Two's a crowd?

But if rumours in the latest issue of British magazine, PSM3, are to be believed, Kratos could be on the verge of heading online.

The publication speculates that the next mainline entry of God Of War will sport online co-op and centre on the plot of Kratos and his brother Deimos, as the siblings attempt to escape from the afterlife. The magazine rumours that the game will release in 2012, with development already well underway.

We suppose the potential for co-op is there, but we're not too keen on another plot starring Kratos. After killing himself at the end of God Of War III, we'd sort of hoped that the angry protagonist would stay dead this time. After all, he seems to escape from the afterlife in every game.

Still, God Of War's combat system is one of the best on the market — and it would certainly be fun whipping the blades online with a buddy. We're just worried that the introduction of online multiplayer might water down the spectacle traditionally associated with the series. After all, how do you better that Poseidon boss-fight when there's another player to render on screen?
