Capcom has been killing it for many years now, with the majority of its games coming out to critical acclaim and sales success.
It's been focusing on its most popular franchises, like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, but it sounds as though the Japanese publisher may be turning its attention to some of its series that have been hanging in the background.
In a recent report, which goes over the company's yearly results as well as future strategies, COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto talks about several dormant series, naming Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney directly.
After talking about the success of its aforementioned "core IPs", he says the following about returning to other series in its catalogue:
"Capcom owns a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney. We aim to expand our user base and improve our performance through new releases, remakes, and ports of titles in these series to new hardware. By enhancing brand power and cultivating loyal fan bases, we will grow these into core IPs."
Tsujimoto mentions "new releases, remakes, and ports", basically meaning that Capcom's looking to produce more games in these series in the future.
That should be quite exciting news for fans. Devil May Cry has seen the most action with DMC5 (though that debuted back in 2019) and the Netflix animated show, and Ace Attorney has had nearly all of its games ported to modern systems. Mega Man has also found its way to modern platforms via legacy collections.
But the implication here is that there's more to come as Capcom aims to grow them into bigger brands.
There's no telling how long it'll take to see this statement bear fruit, but it's acknowledgement from the publisher that it'll be taking some sort of action with its "smaller" IPs.
These aren't the only Capcom series in that same camp; fans have been calling out for a new Dino Crisis for what feels like an eternity, for example.
Anyway, what do you want to see from Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney? What other series do you want to see revisited? Tell us in the comments section below.

My predictions: Mega Man will get a battle royale mobile spinoff, Devil May Cry 2 will receive a remake that looks nicer but plays the same, and the next Ace Attorney game will never be localised.
For me the whole devil may cry lore got forgotten; a treatment like they did with RE2, 3 and 4 would be great
A free-to-play live service crossover with all three franchises is what we can only hope for.
Did Capcom… just acknowledge Mega Man? We miss you, buddy!
Devil May Cry 1 - 3 Remakes or Devil May Cry 6 would be spectacular in even measures for myself! The series is probably my favourite in gaming!!
Capcom is on a hot streak with bringing back legacy franchises. Best thing about AA and Mega Man too is that a new entry doesn't even need a huge budget (no one would pay more than $40 for a new one of either of those anyway).
C'mon Mega Man Legends 3!!!!
Also, would be awesome if Capcom looking at their much longer dormant IP such as:
It surely must be about time for a new Ace Attorney. Plus, aside from Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, they're running out of Ace Attorney games to port.
Now I'm motivated! I'm a huge DMC fan so any news there would be killer.
Megaman gets the ports, Ace Attorney gets the remakes and DMC gets the new games.
Could see DMC start getting the remake treatment, & given how 3 is the most popular game I can see them do them in chronological order, so 3 -> 1 -> 2 -> 4. Hopefully with a DMC6 thrown in there somewhere.
Good, a new game for each of those series would be great. And I’m a big Ace Attorney fan. Throw Dead Rising in this list too.
The Mega Man Legends games & Tron spinoff all need a remastered collection. Seems like the only Mega Man series that hasn't gotten one.
Itsuno left CAPCOM, so I can see the next DMC game being a remake of the original to see if the new series director is up to the job.
