Vecna: Eve of Ruin

Baldur's Gate 3 fans who still haven't gotten their fill of everybody's favourite vampiric sadist, Astarion, can now look forward to an all-new adventure alongside Neil Newbon. The actor portrays the ultimate evil antagonist, Vecna, in a one-shot tabletop adventure, putting in an appropriately imposing vocal performance as one of the setting's big-bads.

Arguably made more famous by the success of Stranger Things, Vecna remains one of the most fearsome antagonists in the D&D setting, presenting a multiversal threat similar to Marvel's Thanos. In Vecna: Eve of Ruin, players' reality-hopping adventure will take them from the Forgotten Realms to Planescape, from Ravenloft to Dragonlance settings as they race to save existence itself from unravelling.

Recently, Newbon mentioned that, unlike characters played previously, he still had some unfinished business with the character of Astarion and would welcome a chance to reprise the role. What form that takes remains to be seen, but it's clear that Newbon has undoubtedly carved a tidy niche within the larger D&D universe.

What do you think of Neil Newbon's new gig? Has Baldur's Gate 3 opened your eyes to the larger threats facing the D&D universe? Roll for the initiative in the comments section below.
