There are a bajillion games coming out every day, give or take, and it can be difficult to know what's worth your attention.
Obviously there are many big, high-profile releases to look forward to, and we've documented over 40 of them already, but now it's time to look at some upcoming PS5 games that are hovering under the radar.
We may add more to this as 2026 continues, as there will inevitably be more promising titles announced throughout the year.
Let's have a gander.
MIO: Memories in Orbit (PS5)
From Focus Entertainment, this sci-fi Metroidvania action game is one that's always presented well in trailers, but it mostly remains shrouded in mystery. You play as a small robot who finds themselves in a giant facility called the Vessel. We expect this will play many of the Metroidvania greatest hits, but it's a structure that works brilliantly when executed well, and it certainly looks like a good time. There isn't long now until we learn whether it all comes together.

Cairn (PS5)
This promising mountaineering adventure was meant to release in 2025, but following a delay, it's now just a few short weeks away. Made by the team behind Furi and Haven, Cairn is a survival adventure about a climber who aims to reach the summit of Mount Kami, a feat never achieved before. With unique climbing mechanics, limited resources, and unforgiving paths up the mountain, we're really excited to see how this one shakes out.
ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard (PS5)
If first-person puzzling is your thing, ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard is one worth watching. Following up on the well-received original, this is a series about using various colours to solve environmental puzzles and explore a strange sci-fi facility. Heavily inspired by Portal, this looks like it should be a fun head-scratcher that's taking what worked in the original and amping it all up.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer (PS5)
Tokyo Xtreme Racer revives a beloved arcade racing series, and the best news is that we already know it's great. Following its PC release back in September 2025, it's heading to consoles in February, and with thousands of "Overwhelmingly Positive" Steam reviews, it seems this will be worth the wait. If you've been hoping for a stylish arcade racer to come along, this one should be worth taking for a spin.
Tiny Bookshop (PS5)
Another 2025 PC game that was received very well, Tiny Bookshop brings its super cosy vibes to PS5 this year. As the name suggests, you run a super small bookshop, in which you'll meet the locals of a town and learn what they like and dislike in a book. With no real pressure to hit objectives, the game is a slow burn of customising your shop, recommending books, and getting to know the townsfolk.
At Fate's End (PS5)
At Fate's End is the next game from the makers of Spiritfarer, which should be all you need to know to keep this on your radar. It's a side-scrolling action adventure in which you play as Shan, a young woman who's on a journey through a fantastical land to confront her estranged family members. Each one you face unlocks new skills and abilities, and of course there are emotional narrative threads to unpick as you go.
Beast of Reincarnation (PS5)
Game Freak, best known as the team behind Pokémon, is stepping out of its comfort zone with Best of Reincarnation, a fantasy action RPG set in post-apocalyptic Japan. It appears to be a Souls-like of sorts as you do battle with various strange beings in natural environments. You also have a dog companion, which is a nice bonus. There's not too much info on this yet, but the combo of genre and developer is intriguing enough.
Beyond Words (PS5)
If you enjoy word games and the roguelike shenanigans of Balatro, you should definitely be aware of Beyond Words. It smashes the two things together, basically, and that's a concept with plenty of potential. Interestingly, it comes from two of the minds behind GoldenEye 007 and TimeSplitters — Steve Ellis and David Doak. They're exploring something entirely different here, but their experience in making games can't be ignored.
Bubsy 4D (PS5)
Bubsy has a patchy history to say the least, but Bubsy 4D might be the one game that can go against the bobcat's bad reputation. It comes from Fabraz, a team that's been honing its skills in the platforming genre with Demon Turf and the upcoming Demon Tides. With a high emphasis on player freedom and expressive movement, Bubsy 4D has been getting a surprising amount of positive buzz, so it could be one to watch.
Chronoscript: The Endless End (PS5)
Chronoscript: The Endless End caught our eye with its unique art style, and we're hoping it has the substance to match. The game is an action adventure about an editor who gets trapped inside a manuscript that continuously writes itself, meaning it has no end. To escape, you'll need to explore its pages in 2D, and the manor in which it sits in 3D. It seems ambitious — let's hope it can pull it off.
D-topia (PS5)
This curious adventure game is being published by Annapurna Interactive, which has a very good eye for top notch indie titles. Set in a clinical future world, this is a narrative puzzle game in which you have to help out the residents of D-topia to keep everyone happy. We haven't seen a whole lot of how this game plays yet, but we're hopeful for an intriguing story and some neat puzzles here.
DAMON and BABY (PS5)
This is one we're really curious about. DAMON and BABY is a combination of exploration, action, and twin-stick shooting, and it looks pretty unique. With a big world to explore and an interesting combo of abilities, this could be something to watch out for if you're looking for something a bit different.
Darwin's Paradox (PS5)
Konami publishing an Oddworld-esque action platformer starring an octopus wasn't on our bingo card, but we're happy about it. Darwin's Paradox has you using all your cephalopod powers to get through all kinds of tricky situations, and it looks like it has real personality. Those looking for some alternative platformers might want to watch out for this.

Some really intriguing titles here. Darwin paradox is a day one purchase for me and im quietly excited about spine. If that lives up to the hype it will be fantastic.
Mouse PI (or whatever the name is)? Or is it not really 'under the radar'?
Fishbowl and Moonlighter 2 are definitely going on my list. The first one had a really good rewarding game-loop. I'm onboard if they can improve on it in any way.
As someone who doesn't mind an occasional game of scrabble who is attempting to break free of a Balatro addiction ... I can see one game that I may have to keep an eye on.
Love features like this, to showcase some of the lesser known titles releasing. I have quite a few of these already on my wishlist but added a few more to it.
Darwin's Paradox, Ontos, Spine and The Eternal Life of Goldman are the ones I am most interested. Hope they all are good games and doesn't become repetetive after 1-2 hours just like most of the indies.
Solid list, thanks for putting this together! It's great to see indies get the spotlight with articles like this. For the future, can we see trailers for these games embedded in the article?
Would be helpful to see the game in action!
There are several titles on this list that I am excited for.
Interesting list. I don’t consider myself a huge cozy games guy (I’ve played a lot of The Sims over the years, not sure if that counts) but I heard good things about Tiny Bookshop from a friend.
Really excited for Moonlighter 2. Loved the first one. A little wary about the switch to 3D graphics but I'm looking forward to this nonetheless.
Super looking forward to People of Note and while I can take or leave the comic it's based on, I'll likely pick up Scott Pilgrim for the Anamanaguchi soundtrack alone
People of Note for me, but there are several that look intriguing.
