Sony Were Apparently Working With The 3DV Camera Technology In 2004.

It seems Sony haven’t just been working on EyeToy and their new Playstation Motion Controller for the past 10 years, but they also toyed with the 3DV technology which Microsoft have implemented for their new Natal device. In a lecture held at Stanford University in 2004, Sony’s Richard Marks can be seen demoing early versions of Sony’s Playstation Motion Controller (00:25:00) and a simple Breakout game (somewhat similar to Microsoft’s demoed Ricochet) using the 3DV technology (1:07:00).

Speaking about his experience with researching the Playstation Eye, Richard Marks concludes the 3DV technology isn’t accurate enough alone for something like golf.
