Final Fantasy Versus XIII Is Still A Long, Long, Long Way Off.

We extrapolated comments made by Tetsuya Nomura regarding Final Fantasy Versus XIII's voice acting process to mean that the game was nearing the end of production. We were wrong. Dead wrong. The game is, in fact, only just starting production.

According to Andriasang's translation of Nomura's Famitsu interview, the development team is facing a number of "challenges" with the hotly anticipated spin-off. At the moment, only the core members of the Versus XIII team are working on the game. But Nomura promises that the project is set to go into full production soon — wait, what?

This raises bigger questions about Square Enix's ability to put the game on store shelves. Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced in 2006. It's been in development for five years. To think that it's not even hit full production yet is staggering. We have serious doubts about the game ever releasing at this point.
