Grand Theft Auto 6 is on the horizon, and barring any changes in the next few months, it's set to launch on 19th November, 2026.
That release date will be a momentous day for many, with millions booting up their PS5s to dive into GTA 6's story and open world.
In fact, its arrival will be so impactful that at least one business is giving its employees the day off.
Burger Motorsports — an American retailer and manufacturer of car tuning parts and related products — has announced it'll be "observing a temporary company-wide operational pause" on the day of the game's release:
As you can see in the above post, the main reason for this move is because many members of staff had requested time off, and this was causing several scheduling conflicts that would impact "normal business operations."
It isn't a large company, but I suspect it won't be alone in providing a day off for its workers. I imagine there will be many other businesses that concede defeat to GTA 6 on 19th November.
If enough people are planning to take time off, or play truant, in order to play Rockstar's crime sandbox on day one, it could definitely cause some disruption.

Haven't certain companies done this in Japan for a Dragon Quest game before?
Imagine a release like this in the supposed streaming only future. 'You are currently number 10,000,000 in the queue'.
I can feel an influenza pandemic coming in November.
Isn't this game going to dissappoint to many. Is it going to be able to live up to this amount of hype.. i'm sure the GTA VI will be amazing, but It's hyped up to be the greatest thing in gaming history.
Again just imagine if it gets delayed to next year...
@1UP-HUSKY Is it? There's been very little hype about it.
I might take a day off the following week after the inevitable patches come in.
Sweet for them I might try do the same with my family just put up a notice on the fridge unable to be a father or husband for the next 48 hours due to grand theft auto 6 releasing all responsibilities are null and void in this period thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
Good luck!
@1UP-HUSKY GTA V did, I don't see why this will be any different.
You know what business won't be observing a day off for GTA 6's launch?
Rockstar.
Rockstar employees never get a day off.
If they have lots of staff booking it off already, rather than annoy people by rejecting holiday requests, makes sense to close for the day and keep staff happy.
I've already booked the 19th & 20th off for a long weekend, my manager just laughed when the request/dates came through.
@1UP-HUSKY You need to remember that for a lot of kids, this is going to be the first new GTA game that's been released in their lifetime. If you were ten when you played GTA V for the first time, you're old enough now to be hyped for GTA VI.
Haha! This has to be happening all over the place. I will take the day off too, but it's much easier with self employment.
Great bit of PR. At first I thought Burger Motorsports must be a GTA in world company and they were breaking the fourth wall, but I couldn't see enough innuendo in the name!
@1UP-HUSKY I think there's different ways of looking at it.
Purely as a single player story driven game I think it will be very good, but not reinvent the wheel... but GTA is so much more than that. The world feels more like a living breathing place and more REACTIVE than any other world i've played in. While I am not really excited about the mission gameplay, I am always fascinated to see what they can do to evolve the industry and show what is possible in almost everything else. Day 1.
Then there's GTA Online on top of that, a complete sandbox of games within a games, a platform more like Roblox or Fortnite that you can build what you want in.
I’ve got the Thursday, Friday and Saturday booked off work and I don’t work Sunday or Monday so five solid days to myself to play
@Oram77 I'd love to see this. I wonder what the breaking point would be
Hahaha fantastic!
I bet the owner / head boss of that company is one of the people who took the day off.
@ShadowRJ If you were 10 when GTA V was released, you'd be 34 now. Just let that sink in
I'm taking 2 weeks off. Do you guys recall if Rockstar offered a few days of early access to those who pre-ordered RDR2? Or was it a different game... (BG3 maybe 🤔)
@rat-paradise well, 22 to be precise
Ridiculous. No wonder we have a productivity crisis in this country. I bet this won't happen in places like China.
@rat-paradise Is that sarcasm? GTAV was released in 2013, thirteen years ago. So I’m fairly certain if you were 10 in 2013, you would be 23 now.
@rat-paradise I think you mean 24, but the point still stands.
I'm jumping in later so it doesn't matter to me, but I wouldn't be surprised if many people won't be able to play it on release day because of internet overload.
I'm curious to see just how empty some places are on release day. I go to the gym frequently for example and on that day I'm expecting a lot of men to be absent.
@McBurn Are games being streamed or downloaded/installed on release day...R* gave a 1 week preload for RDR2, there was no issue on launch day.
@JimmyRiddle @Stevemalkpus @ShadowRJ lol gotcha
Coincidentally, I actually have a week off work when GTA 6 releases. If it had stuck to its May release date I would have been at work, but the delay actually worked out lucky for me.
Is the whole world really so desperate to play American criminal simulator? I really am out of touch and I want to stay that way.
Might try taking up skateboarding again in mid November. Hopefully I fall off again for another few weeks off work.
@Dalamar You and me both, bud.
@Waa-Laa IIRC what happened is loads of people wouldnt turn up to work or school when a new DQ came out so Enix/Square Enix started only releasing them on weekends. There's a myth it's a law in Japan but it was voluntary.
@Balosi F-that, id rather just go fishing because at least that is a peaceful waiting game whilst not feeling like part of a cattle.
@Matroska ahh so I was almost right? 🤔 Thank you.
@Wiceheid hopefully 2K is generous and allows for some profit sharing via good bonuses for employees who worked on this game. We all know it’s going to shatter records.
I don't have a problem whatsoever with people taking days off for whatever game they wish, but for a business to shut - that just sounds ridiculous in my opinion.
@1UP-HUSKY You know it's Rockstar we're talking here, right?
Their latest game, RDR2, is a PS4 title and yet, nothing has come remotely close to matching it. World simulation, storytelling, acting and even graphics to an extent.
You see, technology is not what limits what a game can do in 2026. It's budget, first and foremost. And talent of course, but that is downstream from budget.
GTA VI is estimated to have cost a billion bucks.
$1.000.000.000,00.
@rat-paradise @Stevemalkpus
I remember sitting on my grandpa's knee and him telling me the legend of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. I am now 50 years old...let that sink in.
@MikeOrator hahahah I'm glad someone got it 🙄
1 week annual leave booked and ready!
Not likely unless they decide to close us for the day.
