Did any of you watch the Gran Turismo movie? The official announcement for Clutch reminds me a lot of that.
While you may have seen this news floating around earlier in the week, new team Maverick – made up of ex-Forza Horizon devs – has been building up to this moment.
And here’s what it’s been working on: a cinematic, open-world, action-driving game with an actual plot. And, well, grappling hooks apparently.
The story’s actually been written by Skins scribe Jamie Brittain, so there’s some genuine pedigree here.

The game’s launching in Spring 2027, with lots more to reveal between then and now, obviously.

It’s no Midnight Club: Los Angeles. But it’ll do.
After Screamer another story focused racing game is nice. Also I am glad this one will have an open world.
It's a racing game from a studio with an awful lot of talent who have had a hand in some of the best racing games out there so I'm super interested. I'm not interested in a story driven narrative in racing games but if it's going to turn more people onto the racing genre then it can only be good. The only thing that rankles me about FH5 is the awful dialogue (it truly is atrocious and should be listed as a crime against humanity) and I really don't understand why anybody thinks it's a great choice. If they nail the handling through steering wheels I will definitely be all over this one.
That looked super interesting to me until the very last scene with the ramp, the rocket and the chopper. Hmmm.
Shame. I was hoping that this would look more like The Crew or the old NFS games, with rain-drenched, dark, industrial urban environs. Instead, it looks like the more recent NFS games (Payback and Heat).
I'm terrible at racing games, but the story is the hook for me. I'll keep an eye on this.
