Brain Jar’s viral rhythmic brawler Dead As Disco is “planned” for consoles like PS5, a spokesperson told us following its Early Access announcement this week.
The game blends elements of Hi-Fi Rush, Yakuza, and Sifu to make for a toe-tapping beat-’em-up where every strike you make syncs with the soundtrack.
On the PC you’ll be able to import your own tunes, but we wouldn’t expect this functionality to transition to consoles; the included music promises a “multi-genre” experience.

Here’s the blurb:
“Dead as Disco puts you in the shoes of Charlie Disco, a fallen icon with one chance to reclaim the spotlight from the Idols – Charlie’s ex-bandmates and musical legends. Confront the Idols in stylish combat that syncs to every song, and survive a world torn apart by music, fame, and betrayal In this action-packed, literal Beat ‘Em Up.”
All of the footage we’ve seen of this looks absolutely superb, with great animations and robust sound effects.
The catch is that it could still be some ways away. The dev doesn’t know when it’ll be done with Early Access on PC, and we assume it’ll take some time to port this to the PS5. It’s good to know that it’s planned, though.

If Charlie Disco doesnt have the "everybody was kung fu fighting" song, I wont play this game.
Edit: this soundtrack makes my ears bleed.
Wishlisted, demo looks fun, the ability to import your own music is too good, I am curious about the full release in May.
It is funny that people still think Disco is dead. Most house music is based on obscure disco samples. Dimitri from Paris has been world class since he started and he is best playing Disco. Nile Roger’s is still pretty big as a producer and artist. Maybe it’s a joke like the BSD is dying one even though without it PS5 wouldn’t have an OS (And the Mac user land would take much more effort.)
Looks like a good game though.
