Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2

As speculation surrounding the long-in-development Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake claims a re-reveal may be on the cards for this week, another report has suggested the RPG's sequel is also in line for a remake.

As part of a wider article covering the Nintendo Switch port of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, Game File journalist Stephen Totilo reveals that as recently as March 2025, a full remake of the 2004 RPG is planned. It will also supposedly contain all the cut content Obsidian never managed to get into the final game.

The information comes from court documents detailing a lawsuit against Aspyr Media and Lucasfilm over the cancellation of restored content in the Nintendo Switch port of the first Knights of the Old Republic. In the documents, the publicly known Knights of the Old Republic 1 remake is mentioned alongside project Juliet.

Lucasfilm Games vice president Douglas Reilly said project Juliet was a "full remake" of Knights of the Old Republic 2 with "modern art, modern gameplay, you know, keep the story and the characters and the general — the general content of KOTOR II, but remake it for modern hardware and modern machines with updated graphics and all those kind of things".

Project Juliet was "technically on the roadmap" in March 2025, so it's not publicly known whether that's still the case nine months later. The first game's remake will still come first, which is now being made by the Hellraiser: Revival developer Mad Head Games.

It's alleged we'll see some kind of Old Republic game announcement "very soon", potentially at The Game Awards on Thursday. The remake of the first Knights of the Old Republic could be what's planned for a reveal, though there's also speculation of a Total War game set in the Star Wars universe.
