Capcom has announced its remake of Resident Evil 4 has now sold over 10 million copies since release in March 2023, making it the fastest-selling game in the horror series to date. To mark the occasion, the publisher posted a funny video with party hat-wearing Garnados and the famous chainsaw-wielding Doctor Salvador playing his weapon like a guitar.
The game is well on its way to becoming the best-selling Resident Evil instalment of all time, with the current top three best-sellers looking like this:
- Resident Evil 2 (2019) — 15 million
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard — 14.4 million
- Resident Evil Village — 10.9 million

It's Monster Hunter World that remains Capcom's best-selling game ever, however, at 21.3 million units sold.
With Resident Evil 4 now being two years old, sights are firmly set on whatever's next for the series. If Capcom follows its current development schedule, then the sequel to Resident Evil Village should be next. When do you think the next entry will be confirmed? It's the Fastest selling until Resident Evil 5 Remake Show's up to regain its best selling crown.
@Areus Yeah we're definitely not seeing that for a long time with RE9 being in development.
@Nepp67 knowing Capcom chances are they are working on multiple Resident Evil games 5 being One of them but yeah I See Resident Evil 9 Coming out first.
@Areus really hope they remake Code Veronica before 5.
@graymamba They Honestly Should have Remade that one before they did 4.
A well deserved success that shows you can improve on perfection. Capcom has to be the most consistent publisher in the triple A space right now.
Isn’t the current state of rumours that 9 and a remake of Zero are the games in production.
I hope we hear about one of them soon.
@Areus RE5 is nowhere near as popular as RE4. I don't think it would have the same level of success.
Ok, that is how you announce big sales!
Another game I didnt bought because too many games. Bought the remakes, played the second one till I hit the labo and didnt go back. Played the original on PS, N64 and Dreamcast.
Rented re3 on PS and didnt like it. If I ever get to this remake, ill hope ill enjoy it. I know it's a short game but that sounds like a summer game to me.
@Areus At most 2 titles just because they've seen the backlash of giving RE3Re to a different studio.
I still haven’t played it, but I bumped it back onto my dashboard lest I forget
One of the best remake Capcom ever created.
@Nepp67 not true , the re 2 and 3 remake were in development for years with village (re8) , they have mulitple teams working on these games they could easily be working on re5 remake and re9, it sounds like they've both been in the works for a few years now.
@Nepp67 re3 was always the black sheep of the series , as it wasn't really a true sequel to anything, and the true sequel to re2 was code veronica which was sega exclusive for a bit.
Loved the original, but bounced off this one hard (despite also loving REMake 2, and enjoying 3).
ita a blast in vr,,,
@DiggleDog
RGG Studios too.

3 Quality AAA games within 4 years is unheard of these days.
It's crazy to think that Capcom's 11 best-selling games are all Resident Evil or Monster Hunter entries. Capcom's a beast!
