Sonic Creator Yuji Naka Could Face Over Two Years in Prison

Unfortunate for the man who made Sonic but it was gonna come and bite in the ass sooner or later.

It gets worse when you read into the guy, and how he acted while at Sega. Guy's a piece of crap.

All this for the sake of that FF7 battle royale that shut down during his trial. Crazy.

@Khayl: Uness I recently missed something, I don't think he's actually been 'officially' sentenced yet. The other articles (including from The Gamer) all state that it's due to be finalised on the 7th July.

Hoping he just gets a suspended prison sentence with a hefty fine. He’s actually got 2 young kids.

That's rough, he should take this time to think of a new game idea.

You reckon when verdict and sentence was passed he did this big shock movement and a load of gold rings fell out of him?

@WallyWest @EVIL-C @KidRyan Not saying he shouldn’t be punished but 2.5 years is the max amount. They’ll be able to get it down to under 2 years at which point he’ll probably spent less than a year in prison with good behaviour or be out on probation (which is what I’d prefer to him).
Massive fine & probation I’d be fine with. The amount he’s being fined is already far greater than what he invested & is comparatively smaller what the other guys caught invested. Also the guy just tried to make some quick money, he didn’t hurt/kill anyone (apart from investors I guess).

Having said that the thought of Naka sharing a cell with someone that’s in for armed robbery is funny.

The creator of Sonichu went to jail for a while, very poetic that Sonic's also stays behind bars.

And he will. Japan's justice system is nuts - something crazy like 99% of people accused will also be found guilty.

Very sad. I used to be a big fan of him and still am in a way. He created 2D Sonic games and Nights and basically ran Sonic team through it's golden age and made very cool games that i still enjoy today.
But, his arrogance cost him big time and then came desperation, i suppose. Very sad.

@Golem25 The 99% thing makes it sounds like they have an accusation=guilt kangaroo court, but the reason the number is so high is actually that they never even try most cases because they don't have all the money pumped into their legal system like the US does, so their DA's basically only actually try cases they have slam-dunk evidence on and throw the rest out because they don't have the money and resources to waste on anything that's not a pretty much guaranteed open-shut case that speaks for itself.

I always find it funny when these articles about Naka's arrest are accompanied by photos of him wearing the Balan top hat, because it makes him look like a cartoon con artist who just failed at his latest scheme.
