Disney Speedstorm is a free-to-play kart racer that was announced what feels like eons ago, but it's now just around the corner. The game, developed by Gameloft Barcelona, mashes up various Disney and Pixar properties into one colourful racer, and it looks fairly promising in the above trailer.
Said video also gives us some exciting news: the game is set to enter Early Access on PS5 and PS4 starting 18th April 2023.
While the game will eventually launch as a free-to-play experience (complete with cross-play and cross-save), if you want to play the Early Access version, you'll need to stump up some cash. The Founder's Pack comes in three editions, with each containing more in-game goodies. The Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Founder's Packs will set you back $29.99, $49.99, and $69.99 respectively. Of course, you can simply wait for the "proper" launch if you'd rather not open your wallet.
You can wishlist the game on PS Store for now, and pre-orders for the Founder's Packs will begin on 20th March.

Missed opportunity to say "When you wish upon a car"!
@BeerIsAwesome You're right. I don't know what I was thinking. Changed it.
I haven’t even got time to play finished games, who has it to test unfinished ones? And then you have to pay for the privilege. Jesus. I hate all this early access rubbish. Then I hate the free to play too. Just release a good bloody kart racer you blood sucking w*****s!
Not paying to play it early, but I’m looking forward to trying this once it’s free-to-play. Gameloft did a great job with Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Wow, paying extra to test it, Disney are on to something here. Now they just got to figure out how to get us to pay them to build it for them too.
Will probably give it a go (when it's free) but I'm guessing it won't hold a candle to Mario Kart.
Say what you like about Nintendo but they are the undisputed kings of the Kart Racer
Good to see that initial reveal in the February 2022 NINTENDO Direct being put to good use.😝
Being able to wishlist the Early Access for this free to play game releasing the day before HFW Burning Shores that still doesn’t even exist on the PS store is just so 😂
Edit: OK I did see Switch is getting it too, Nintendo Life just seems to be ignoring it.🤷🏻♂️
Early access costing money while the base game is F2P is insane to me
@Robinsad well, they can always go Bethesda and bundle a "creator club" pack into some anniversary edition for Disney Infinity 4.0... oh wait, wrong universe.😥
Hmmm 🤔…normally wouldn’t give this a fair look but Dreamlight Valley early Access is superb…so this may be fun
@Quintumply My journalistic career is going from strength to strength! 😅
Very mid game tbh when I played it.
@Robinsad You want them to put it on Kickstarter?
I forgot all about this game. I am enjoying the Dreamlight Valley game though.
demo was fun last year. scared of how they monetize though
@Quintumply What's the likelihood of this game having an actual story campaign/plot?
@KidBoruto There will probably be some sort of narrative framing that brings all these characters together to race, but I highly doubt there will be a full story to play through.
@Quintumply Damn shame, we need more racing games with a legit full story campaign.
