Square Enix has announced Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars for PlayStation 4. It's a role-playing game that's all about cards, featuring turn based battles and some lovely looking character artwork. What's more, Yoko Taro — the main brain behind the NieR games — is creative director, so you can probably expect some interesting gameplay mechanics and potentially massive plot twists.
Voice of Cards is out pretty soon, too. It's hitting the PlayStation Store on the 28th October, and a demo is available to download right now.

One of the more interesting announcements in the Nintendo Direct.
Not entirely sold, but we'll see how it goes. Glad there's a demo.
Can cards die. Please. They’re the new roguelike.
I was interested when I saw Yoko Taro. But then I saw it was actually a card game. 😕
@nessisonett Yo cards can die but leave Roguelikes alone
What's with the card game hate?
@AFCC I’ve played roguelikes for over 10 years now. I love roguelikes. I HATE cards.
I'm keeping my eye on this just cause of yoko taros name alone
@nessisonett So ignore the game? It's not hard.
@nessisonett I feel like you mean roguelites since actual roguelikes are as rare as they've ever been, and aren't a fairly recent fad either. Even then, a prominent roguelite is Hades and that seems to be winning favour everywhere it goes. Anyway, this could be good. There's a lot more to card games, and a much longer history, than the more Reddit-friendly, meme-y card games of more recent years like Hearthstone and Slay the Spire which seem to mainly exist in Twitch bubbles around certain e-celebs like Kripp.
I'm not totally opposed to card games but it needs a hook to get me in. Yoko Taro being involved is enough of a hook to at least give it a shot.
@nessisonett To be fair this seems to be a mix between cards and roguelites. Looks like something a little similar to Hand of Fate but even more focused on the RPG side.
This is text and still pictures tho
You had me at Nier.
You lost me at cards.
Oh, it's multi platform. Awesome.
You had me at Yoko Taro.
I'll always give interesting premises a try. I don't mind cards. I like being cerebral every now and then. lol
Looks interesting, the arts and the music is really fine, I'll try it for sure
And of course yoko taro name make me believe that the game will have a really good story.
I used to be anti-card too, but then I slayed the spire...
That actually looks quite good. Going to check it out.
@nessisonett who doesn't hate cards?
