There's a lot of chatter surrounding the yet to be revealed release date for God of War Ragnarok. We got to see a chunk of in-game footage at Sony's latest showcase, but the lack of a launch window has fans scratching their heads. Just when is Kratos making his anticipated return?
Well, rumours are doing the rounds online, and many of them are suggesting that Ragnarok is a lot closer than people might think. All of this stems from the official PlayStation website, which now lists the God of War sequel under "coming soon".
It's placed alongside titles like Far Cry 6 (coming next month) and Battlefield 2042 (coming in November). But here's the thing: the 'coming soon' section of the site also lists games such as Final Fantasy XVI and Little Devil Inside — titles that have been missing in action for ages. It isn't really a guide to upcoming games — it just features popular products (including games that have been out for months, like Returnal and Mass Effect Legendary Edition). As such, we wouldn't read too much into the fact that God of War Ragnarok has been added.
For what it's worth, we don't think Ragnarok is that far off. Late 2022 seems like a reasonably safe bet at this point, but we know that Sony likes to focus on one big exclusive at a time — and Horizon Forbidden West is up next.

Just a generic placeholder. They also have "Just announced" beside games that were announced almost a year ago.
Surely we won't see this until after Horizon? Unless they're preparing a marketing ambush for Christmas that none of us saw coming.
January 2022.word up son
@Shepherd_Tallon Definitely not before Horizon, that wouldn't make any sense. I'm hoping it's a mid-year release rather then late in the year though.
Coming soon means nothing, especially for Sony.
I bet it will release between September-December of next year.
I would guess May at the earliest, but most likely between September and the end of 2022.
Don't expect this until October or November 2022.
Q3/Q4 2022. There’s already lots of games coming out early 2022.
March/April just like 2018 GoW
Don’t think this is anything to read into in the slightest.
GT7 is in March, this is going to be the Ratchet window or even late next year.
Im not expecting this before fall 2022, but with Elden Ring and Horizon FW we got 2 big games for the 1st half of 2022 so i dont really mind if its Fall/Winter 2022.
@LiamCroft Kena launch trailer, since it hasnt been posted yet:

With Horizon in Feb and GT7 in March, I don't expect Ragnarok until at least the second half of 2022. My guess is a September or October release since Sony doesn't seem to like releasing games very late in the year.
I've just given it a quick google and apparently Ragnarok is believed to come when the sun's rays turn black, the golden rooster crows and whoredom is rife.
I have emailed Sony this vital information so they can update their website.
I'd guess September as Sony doesn't tend to release games in October - December probably because the annual games like FIFA dominate the spotlight during the holiday season.
I reckon September 2022 it will come out(so in 1 years time then) Can't wait to play it
Guys, nothing to talk about.
Just remember how many times TLOU 2 was delayed.
And Ghost of Tsushima - announced in 2016 and released only in summer 2020..
Also, I can't find its page on the PS store.
Where did you see this "coming soon"?
I'm thinking probably sometime after July 2022, don't think it will be sooner than that. Definitely not first few months of 2022 as that is already packed with games releasing.
I'd love them to reveal GoW:R as the big end of year game. I'm hoping that Little Devil Inside is due soon been quiet on that foe to long for me.
Honestly I don't see GOW until 2023. March time with Spider-Man 2 coming out later on in the year. Don't forget though, PS VR 2 is set for next year. October time I would guess. You got to way-up the games coming with that and the flat screen games. Could be one eck of a back log!" 🎮
Q4 2022 likely. Could slip
Tomorrow. Definitely tomorrow.
Will be definitely late Q3/Q4, no chance it will release alongside horizon Elden Ring or GT7
But there is definitely enough to stay interested until then
I think it means it’s coming soon. 😋
@Voltan
Wouldn't be the first time Sony has released major exclusive titles really close to each other. Need i remind you Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima came out less than a month apart.
@PegasusActual93 Yeah and they both did well. Still, I don’t think it will be the case this time but tbf I know nothing about the actual state of these games
I think what the last couple years have taught us in reference to "Coming Soon" is that the term is now meaningless.
@BorntobeGeek75 2022 obviously
@Gremio108
The day humour dies is the day everything dies.
I’m not joking. I’m deadly serious.
I don't expect this to release until Summer or Fall 2022, I'd rather the game not be rushed and super buggy..
They don't do holiday games, so August or September probably.
@lolwhatno as a term it seems to have been around for some time:

Edit: Has the BBCode formatting changed? That's supposed to be a quote using [quote.] and [/quote.] tags (obviously without the '.'s)
Definitely won't be Spring since we have Horizon FW, GT7, Ghostwire Tokyo and Forsaken releasing during that window.
I think it will be a summer game. Maybe July-August.
Can't see it being much later than that as Sony always avoid the holiday season.
Cory Barlog said it would take 5 years to make this game. It won't be out until 2023.
