Last week, we reported on the incoming updates to Rocket League, the ongoing arcade title from Psyonix. Firstly, a set of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart inspired cosmetics are freely available in-game (gifted to you as soon as you hit the main menu), which is rather nice, isn't it? The second update was news of a 120 frames-per-second mode coming when you're playing on PlayStation 5. This was quietly delayed, but we're happy to report that it's now available with the latest patch.
Patch 2.02 is ready to download and install now, and alongside various bug fixes, it introduces Performance mode. In the settings menu, you can head over to the Video tab, where two options will be available: Performance and Quality. Performance will run the game at 120 frames-per-second with a slightly reduced resolution (if you have a compatible display of course), while Quality is the standard 60 frames-per-second experience at full 4K.
So, there you are: if you were wondering where the 120fps mode was, it's in the game right now — you just need to download the latest patch, and you'll be ready to roll. Will you be making use of Rocket League's Performance mode on PS5? Tell us in the comments section below.

Don't have 120fps compatible TV, but cool update for those who do!
Since they added the 60FPS at 4K update and with HDR, has anyone else had weird moments driving around where the screen goes dark grey briefly?
I thought it was the effects so turned them off and still it happens and in different stadiums. A friend noticed it too whilst playing split screen.
Maybe dodgy HDR functionality in game?
Ooh nice, will have to get back into this 🤠
Hopefully I'll get a LG G1 or C1 by the end of the year. Really wanna test out these 120fps games!
Was gutted it never came out last week but excited to jump in and try both modes 🙌🏻
Yeah i read a lot that 120fps is not working currently and picture quality becomes very bad.
Again 2688x1512 resolution. This is not a slight decrease, it’s less than 50% of pixels of 4k resolution. Journalisrs, when are you going to do some simple calculations when talking about resolutions and stop deeding us the corporate crap?
@paulo1manso lovely TVs, you will be absolutely satisfied with either model.
@Lukasamba it’s a slight decrease of resolution. How dare you go against croporate marketing?
come on guys, poor reporting. the patch dropped 20 hours ago and the performance mode is busted with a ***** resolution. they acknowledged it and said it is on their list to fix. so no 120fps mode.
@Cheems 2688x1512 resolution (70% of full 4K) at 120 FPS with HDR
That’s what they wrote on the rocket league website.
But you are right. Slightly less than 50%.
Still a good resolution for 120 fps in my opinion.
Yeah, it doesn’t work.
i can confirm that it doesn't work with my LB BX oled
