The PlayStation Store summer sale has been available for two weeks, so now seems like the right time to give it a bit of a refresh, doesn't it? Thankfully, Sony agrees and has spruced up its long list of PS5 and PS4 discounts with many new additions that are live right now on the UK, EU, and US storefronts. Today also signals the end of some pre-existing price drops, so make sure to capitalise on those if they're about to expire. You're here for the new PS Store deals, though, so let's get stuck right in. One last reminder: these are all available until midnight on 18th August 2021.
The list of PS5 game offers includes Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for £49.69/$49.69, Guilty Gear Strive is cut to £35.99/$47.99, and The Nioh Collection comes in at £52.49/$49.69. Then there's Assassin's Creed Valhalla at £34.19/$29.99, Hood: Outlaws & Legends drops once more to £18.74/$22.49, MLB The Show 21 can be picked up for £42.59/$49.69, and Watch Dogs Legion is £25.79/$19.79.
On PS4, The Last of Us: Part II is available at a reasonable £26.24/$29.99, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is already discounted to £29.99/$35.99, and Persona 5 Royal comes in at £22.49/$26.99. We also have Pyre for £5.59/$6.99 — this is the first time the game has been on sale since February 2020. On top of that, What Remains of Edith Finch is £4.79/$5.99, Bastion is just £2.99/$3.74 (it also hadn't been on sale for over a year prior to today), and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV drops to £34.99/$41.99.
For a full list of every PS5, PS4 game included in the PS Store summer sale refresh, UK and EU users should head on through this link. The US online storefront hasn't updated at the time of writing, but the deals listed above are active if you search for them. What takes your fancy this time around? I'm on it.
Take that, wallet!
any chance to get a ps+ discount? i believe they did those around mid-augoust..
I picked up the amazing Returnal in the first half of the sale but of course they would never mark down the base versions of Death Stranding or Ghosts of Tsushima with the impending updates. I have neither so it might be fun hunting them down at other stores before they get updated.
Nice, been eyeing Bastion and Pyre for a while... hopefully Transistor is on sale too.
Just checked Transistor is also on sale 😁
@Gamer_Girl_ good to know. I kinda wanna play the back-catalogue before I play Hades... and they all seem like perfect 'side-games' to whatever it is I'll be playing primarily.
@colonelkilgore ditto. Preordered Hades, and have been working for bastion to drop into a sale, so I can check it out a little, prior!
Edith Finch for those in the know!
recently bought a good few games in the sales but I'll finally bite at Trails of cold steel IV for that. almost half off as last time I looked it was over £60.
@colonelkilgore I might pick up Pyre as I loved Bastion and Transistor, I'll no doubt get Hades later this month as well.
You'll have a blast when you get around to playing them, Enjoy.
Love the positivity on this comments thread. Such a breath of fresh air! Fist bump to all my gamer neighbors here!!
If ya in the UK, make a US account, then get ya voucher online and save some cash..
Not interested in the game myself but ya can get Watch Dogs Legion for sub 15 quid.. I regularly pick up a US PSN card for my American account on PC Game Supply.. And it works out about a tenner cheaper for that game right now.
Long as the US account is primary, you can play on your main UK account..
*apologies mods, if mentioning companies isnt allowed.
the original sale in my opinion was/is atrocious, they do have some good sales but this one is pretty poor, I'll have a look at the new titles
Supergiant games are back on sale! I wonder if the exclusivity deal with Nintendo for Hades included sales for prior games as well. I've been so confused how their prior 3 games used to be on sale every other month. But haven't been on sale for over a year. Excited for all the people who haven't experienced Bastion, Transistor (my favorite), or Pyre. All excellent games
@MightyDemon82 funnily enough I've been checking on all 3 for months to see if they got reduced. I had a sneaky feeling they may do it in August as Hades is releasing.
Transistor is excellent, bastion is good, I bought pyre day one, but while the art and story is interesting, I didn't like the sport-like gameplay.
I am very tempted by Trails of Cold Steel IV at that price. I just need to actually get on and play I - III first... I played around the first 10 hours of III last summer when it came to Switch and was really impressed. That made me want to go back and start from I. I have the games from previous sales, just haven't started them yet.
I just picked up Ys VIII in the sale so I'm currently trying to decide whether to start ToCS, Tokyo Xanadu eX+ or Ys...
Final fantasy for then
@colonelkilgore Completed both on Switch. Think I actually preferred Transistor in the end, even played a bit of new game+
@Jayofmaya yeah Transistor is the one I fancy most out of the three... but then I probably fancy Hades most out of the four, if you know what I mean.
@velio84 Eh. It really isn't a great price, though. I think the year before last I saw Nioh on sale for like £3. Not sure why I didn't get it, think I had just splurged a load of money on games back then and didn't want to spend another penny for a while. Perhaps it'll hit double discount again one day.
@dellyrascal
This.
Been doing this since 2018. Probably saved hundreds of dollars buying games on the US Store and just play them on my UK account
Nothing at what I would consider a good price that I can see currently.
@mcdreamer
I’d go Tokyo Xanadu ex. Great game, and stand-alone. ToCS is a rabbit hole you won’t come out of for a while!
Have any of you lot played Oxenfree? I'm thinking of picking it up. Love Kentucky Route Zero, Night In The Woods and Mutazione, and I've heard Oxenfree is similar.
Is there a US link yet?
@Futureshark What Remains of Edith Finch broke my heart. I played many games throughout my life and many hold a dear place in my mind but Edith is something else.
@PeteWiseWords you'll love Oxenfree.
@MightyDemon82 Pyre is nothing like Bastion and Transistor, so be warned. I finished it but it's my least liked game of theirs. Can't wait for Hades to hit gamepass.
@Netret0120 didn't know that was possible. Always feared I'd get my account banned.
Thank you @Gamer_Girl and @TheDudeElDuderino ! Opinion on Oxenfree seems to be really divided. Since it's just a few quid, I may have to set out with modest expectations and try it anyway.
If you haven't played Mutazione yet and you like this sort of game, I recommend picking it up in the sale. Much like NitW, it's based around a daily routine of interacting with characters – but the story is more focused on the community and the environment, and less on the protagonist. You get to befriend a sentient fungus.
@PeteWiseWords Oxenfree is less a point & click game & more like a "talkie" adventure in the vein of Firewatch or Walking Dead etc. That said, personally enjoyed my time with it. It has replay value insofar as making different choices in its New Game+ & trying to get the "good" ending.👍
Bit saddened the sequel is exclusive to PC/Switch (guessing timed exclusive,but happening a tad too often to ps4/5 as far as small indies go).
Still no Xeno Crisis & a few others long been wishlisted! 😕
Did Transistor ever get a Vita release? If not, I might dip into Bastion on the ever-faithful handheld on my hols...
@colonelkilgore picked up bastion, after all, but I think it would benefit from the HD upgrade treatment, or at least a few patches- towards the end, and at some stages where there's a lot on screen, it begins to lag quite a bit, and at some points is near unplayable! Not sure if it's just me, or a regular occurrence
@J2theEzzo that’s disappointing dude… and quite surprising to me. You just expect a matching that can power fully 3D worlds to have no problem with pixelated sprites.
I’m hoping I’ll be able to make a start on it pretty soon so I’ll deffo be keeping my eye out for any issues.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Untitled Goose Game was 50% off ($10) so I picked that up but otherwise nothing jumped out at me.
@colonelkilgore yeah, it's possible I just need to connect or stay online and patch it, as I've been mostly offline since downloading it? Beyond the late-game slowing down, it has been entirely full of charm and enthralling. The narration is on a whole other level, and it's hugely entertaining!
