The Third Street Saints have set some time aside to tune in for Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021 next week because it looks like host Geoff Keighley has bagged the exclusive reveal of the next Saints Row game. The presenter teased the announcement today on Twitter with a link to the series' official website that now simply reads "Rebooting". It's probably very safe to assume then that the next entry in the Volition developed franchise will be a reboot and a full unveiling will take place on Wednesday.
While the third instalment has been treated to a few remasters, there hasn't been a brand new Saints Row game since the standalone Saints Row IV expansion Gat Out of Hell. The announcement will be accompanied by a first look at the Call of Duty: Vanguard campaign and even more reveals that Geoff Keighley is yet to announce.

I'm strangely excited for a new Saints Row despite not being that impressed with any that came after 2.
@Wazeddie22 3 was really fun in my opinion! the gameplay loop of 4 became very tiresome but it was okay for a while too. I would definitely be interested in a new one if they could do something fresh with it
I never played the first one but love all the ones that came after it, I hope this new one is a full reboot of the series so we can get to know the characters from the very beginning.
It could use a reboot. I really enjoyed 1-3 (with 2 being the clear best), but found 4 really tiresome and just not fun. Looking forward to this.
Would love for them to go back to a more serious version since its a reboot.
Please be like the original & 2 & not like 3 & 4 🙏🏻
Outside of 1 and 2 I believe the creators realized it’s easier to make the game into a parody and just copped out. The more recent iterations into the franchise leave me at 0 as far as being interested in the next one.
@Ken_Kaniff I feel like the over-the-top zaniness is what set it apart from GTA.
I prefer this franchise over GTA.
Even enjoyed 4 and Gat, they just shouldn't have made 4 a main line title. They work much better as a sub series.
A reboot is definitely needed, and 4 player co-op would be nice.
@Deadhunter Yeah 3 sort of gave it it's identity (plus it's signature colors!) and not just be a gta clone.
Please be a return to form to SR2. Saints Row 4 was just awful to play. Sr3 was no better.
@Wolfie_Pie Yea that was one of the worst changes they made in SR3 and that's changing Shaundi into an annoying prick. Her druggie self was so enjoyable
@Logonogo Oh I'm not denying it was fun,I just felt disappointed after absolutely loving Saints Row 2.I admit my memory isant that good but I do agree with @Wolfie_Pie that the story was so much better for 2 and the others that came after seemed to take a backseat to the story and were just trying to make it feel more like a 'go have fun in the playground'.
Shaundy Stoner hippy all the way!lol
@Deadhunter True, but with 4 it was to much. They were trying to hard. They need to pull it back some.
@Wazeddie22 SR3 was the pinnacle imo
I loved IV when it came out. It's what made me take notice of it, having the whole "They Live" tribute and having the ridiculous opening with "Don't Wanna Close My Eyes" by Aerosmith playing. Before that, I just saw it as a GTA clone....I loved flying around the city, it was a game where I legit felt like Superman flying around the city. Though you did get overpowered at combat.
@Nepp67 ha , SR3 was the best one. at least it finally gave the franchise its own identity .
@Ken_Kaniff i agree , 4 is a bad version of SR3 . They definitely took it too far . and it looked too similar to 3 , so it came off as lazy imo .
@AhmadSumadi more recent ? i guess you only mean SR4 , since SR3 is old as dirt.
@nomither6 Except it did have its own identity in 2 tf? Lol, SR3 is just bad in every way compared to 2.
Lots of SR2 with a little of SR3 is what i hope an SR5 would would be. SR2 is my favorite, gameplay and map, but SR3 has calling a bus full of zombies to help in a fight or just for fun. That's too cool not to feature in a new SR game.
@Nepp67 the identity of being a janky poor-mans GTA clone , but sure.
I've only played a little bit of Saints Row 2 but remember enjoying it...enough to buy Saints Row 3 and 4 twice despite never playing them lol.
Looking forward to the next game in the franchise.
@nomither6 I'm pretty sure I'll take a janky title that actually has love put into it than something like Saints Row 3 that's a literal downgrade in nearly everything except for its graphics and quality.
@Nepp67 i dont mind SR2 . if its like either of the 2 games its good for me.
Hope, it's more like 4 and maybe 3. The others felt too serious like gta. That to me is not what saint row's about.
I for one want it to be more like 2 with a little bit of 3.
Simi serious but with some comedy.
The first two games weren't that serious to begin with. They had their moments but they were always leaning into the silliness with stuff like the activities.
