Fans of character-driven action games like Devil May Cry and NieR might want to keep an eye on Ultra Age — a fast, combat-focused game coming to PlayStation 4 on the 9th September. It looks promising in the gameplay trailer embedded above.
"Ultra Age features devastating combos with multiple blade types, wire pull action and a slew of upgrades for the main character and his droid. Set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world brought to the brink of ruin, the player controls Age, the sword-wielding hero, who must fight to prevent the extinction of humankind," reads the official press release.
There's also a playable demo out right now on the PlayStation Store, which should give you a good feel for the game.
We're looking forward to giving Ultra Age a shot, but what about you? Keep your blade ready in the comments section below.

I enjoyed the demo. You can definitely tell that it’s not a AAA game, but it’s only £24.99. I was thinking about getting the PS5 version of Devil May Cry 5, but I might go with this instead.
This is why I love Pushsquare-putting games on my radar I had no idea existed. Looks fun!
Demoes! Always nice to see new demoes.
Just an advice, It's always good to advertise the devs and the publisher for small games like this :
Devs : Next Stage (with Visual Arts)
Publisher : DANGEN
We all now COD is from Activision and Uncharted from Naughty Dogs, but indie devs deserve more visibility.
Is this a musou game? The enemies looked a little lethargic or tame, even by hack n slash standards
I like the look of the weapons
@Olmaz thanks for pointing this out I was able to add their information in the description for the video I made for the game I am glad to make sure they get all the credit even if this isn't a game I'm going to buy I think they might have something decent here and I'm happy to get information out there to people who might be interested in this game so thank you for your help.
Looks a bit shonky but may give it a go.
I saw a few youtubers playing this this week… looks decent. I never play demo’s as a I have too many games to get through as it is but might end up picking up the full game if there is enough positive buzz.
Looks interesting, I'll try the demo
Looks like a ps3 era game, with very empty landscapes. No context, and a mute protagonist seems a bit uninspired, along with his Noctis-style warping... think I'll give it a miss!
Nah. The demo left much to be desired. Combat mechanics were really cool but the game felt extremely shallow. Fingers crossed I am wrong but not holding my breath on this one.
Never heard of this, thanks for the article. It looks like something up my alley, going to check out the demo 👍
I don’t mind the sparse environment is the gameplay is up to par.
I played the demo and found that being unable to dodge attacks a little frustrating. You can only jump but there is no dodge mechanic.
@Steel76 Thank you very much. I will give it another try.
After playing the demo, it's a big pass for me.. the swordplay is dope, but not being able to dodge just ruins it and the stunlock the enemies can put you in is ridiculous.
