England international and Manchester United forward Dr Marcus Rashford MBE has rewarded a 9-year-old with a PlayStation 5 for his charity work. Inspired by the footballer’s campaign to tackle child food poverty, Jacob from St Helens in Merseyside, started raising money for Fare Share by running and documenting his progress on Instagram. Rashford noticed his efforts online, and contacted the youngster’s father in order to arrange the gift.
“We are not kind to be noticed,” the striker wrote. “We are kind because it’s the right thing to do. It feels good to help others. Not all gestures are rewarded but know that you are appreciated, and every time you look at this gift remember how good it feels to look out for others.” Wise words, and inspirational from a young man who’s only 23-years-old himself.
Rashford bundled the PS5 with a copy of eFootball PES 2021: Season Update, of which he’s on the cover alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Jacob, unsurprisingly elated with the gift, said: “Rashford is my favourite player and I really hope to see him playing more for England.” Hopefully he’ll hammer home the winner against Italy in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday!

Nice gesture. Getting some serious 'Nintendo 64 Kid' vibes from this one.
Absolutely LOVE these kinds of articles. Nice one! Kindness is the gift that keeps on giving. On that note, you probably need to be a Man U player to get your hands on one of those at this point.
What a lovely gesture. Loving the huge cut out of his face too 😂
Nice one, Marcus! Lovely gesture for a great kid.
Only one question: where did he find a PS5?
Nice one, Marcus. The lad is the real deal, isn't he?
Oh and Come on England!
Happy for the kid, hopefully he is inspired to do more charity/humanitarian related efforts.
Also hope he plans on buying some real games too, like Ratchet & Clank, Sackboy, etc.
His autograph looks like a cardiogram.
It's coming home lol
Very happy for Jacob! Go England!
Well done little kid and nice one by Rashford to not only notice him but take the time to write and get the PS5 for him too.
As if he sent him a massive cardboard cut-out of his own face too.
It is so nice to hear a "feel good" story and well done Jacob!
Congrats to jacob 😃
Rashford the real leader of the opposition. Love it!
There you go. If you haven't got a PS5 yet, start handing the sarnies out (and take pictures)!
That cutout of Rashy's head is amazingly funny.
Great gesture by Rashford, his off the field work is truly impressive.
@Cherip-the-Ripper I think it’s for reference? Orrr he’ll be having to poke the eyeholes out..
Christ, that console is almost as big as the kid!
Very cool. Nicely done to both of them 👍
What a great gesture, but an even better message. Good on Rashford.
@Loftimus I think you may have missed the point. Rashford said “We are not kind to be noticed".
@hobbes242 That's ironic seeing as though you missed the point of it being a lighthearted remark to those in search of a PS5 (a joke).
@Loftimus Okay, sorry! I guess I wasn't awake enough to catch your subtlety.
@hobbes242 I wouldn't bash Rashford. He's a legend already!
He still can’t get on the pitch though unfortunately.
Lovely for the kid and well deserved.
Merseyside Man Utd fan though?
What a heartwarming gesture this is. He has lots to look forward to now.
