England international and Manchester United forward Dr Marcus Rashford MBE has rewarded a 9-year-old with a PlayStation 5 for his charity work. Inspired by the footballer’s campaign to tackle child food poverty, Jacob from St Helens in Merseyside, started raising money for Fare Share by running and documenting his progress on Instagram. Rashford noticed his efforts online, and contacted the youngster’s father in order to arrange the gift.

“We are not kind to be noticed,” the striker wrote. “We are kind because it’s the right thing to do. It feels good to help others. Not all gestures are rewarded but know that you are appreciated, and every time you look at this gift remember how good it feels to look out for others.” Wise words, and inspirational from a young man who’s only 23-years-old himself.

Rashford bundled the PS5 with a copy of eFootball PES 2021: Season Update, of which he’s on the cover alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Jacob, unsurprisingly elated with the gift, said: “Rashford is my favourite player and I really hope to see him playing more for England.” Hopefully he’ll hammer home the winner against Italy in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday!
