It's a shame, but it's impossible to deny that Destruction AllStars has been a somewhat failed experiment from Sony. The multiplayer vehicular action game has some good ideas, but ultimately doesn't seem to have caught on, even despite being available on PlayStation Plus for two months. That said, it looks like Sony isn't done pushing the PS5 exclusive just yet: two of its characters are making guest appearances in Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
Continuing a trend that started with Selene from Returnal, Sumo Digital's 3D platformer proves PlayStation Studios is a close-knit group with yet another crossover. We've also had Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart stars Ratchet, Clank, and Rivet drop in, and now it's the turn of Tw!nkleR10t and Ultimo Barricado from Lucid Games' destructive car combat title:
These new costumes will become available in Sackboy: A Big Adventure from 30th July, and won't cost anything to redeem. It's nice to see first party games all getting this treatment; perhaps these particular skins will encourage some to dive back into Destruction AllStars. Right, guys? Right?

Remember when I said this was going to be a massive flop?
The game is fine, it was just destined to fail. You could tell by the initial numbers playing it, even for a free game on PS+, it wasn't going to be pretty. I tried to do my part but once I got the platinum I was done.
Let's hope an Astro Bot costume is next. And yes, i'll be getting these costumes even tho i'm not a fan of Destruction AllStars.
I still fire Destruction Allstars up on occasion and have a good time smashing and getting smashed. I do a lot more of the latter though. It’s a shame that it didn’t catch on with a broader audience, but I’ve enjoyed it and it’s obviously provided plenty of entertainment for people who take pleasure in seeing games fail to meet expectations.
Cool to see all these costumes added for free.
They need to just make it free to play and maybe put it on PS4/pc, but even then I don't know if can be saved.
Destruction All Stars was fun... when I could get a game. Also not enough content to really justify picking it up constantly. A shame because it had great potential and really good character designs.
I can't believe no one wants to play a game with a character called Tw!nkleR10t
I personally enjoyed the game but the screaming through the controller as you couldn't turn voice chat off and the empty lobbies made me stop
@Logonogo Between that and Tom Clancy’s XDefiant, I’m convinced marketing are stuck in 2011. Looking forward to Call of Duty: ROFLCopter
So even though the game bombed I will admit that the characters and the design of them are cool. Also it was smart of them to make the girl with the Emoji helmet a outfit. She in my opinion is the best character in Destruction All-Stars.
I play it most days for a little bit I enjoy it people are always on they have added a lot of content as well as single-player content.
@The_New_Butler The writers on this site were still quick to shut down anyone saying otherwise!
Can they make the Jin Sakai outfit available already?
That all stars game could've been something really special and a lot of fun, after expecting as such and then reading reviews and watching videos about it I never even downloaded it.
It wasn't at all what I thought we were getting, which was a mix of Blur, Mario Kart and destruction Derby.
A huge missed opportunity imo.
@nessisonett I'd play Call of Duty: ROLFCopter.
Absolutely for the meme though.
Honestly, I still think it should have been free-to-play. Keep in mind, back when it was going to be a PS5 launch title, Sony actually had the gall to put a $70 price tag on it.
@The_New_Butler For a big platformholder i found them quite tame on the MT and other stuff though.
It had the opportunity to be something. Look at Rocket League, launched as a PS plus game and got so big the developer was bought by Epic.
Something just went wrong somewhere..... very wrong.
@The_New_Butler Still almost no MT you only pay for expansions i rather have that then the MS way shoving boosters, ads, MT in their games.
I won't be claiming these new costumes but it is a shame about what happened to Destruction AllStars.
