Hold on, there are things to talk about with the UK's physical games chart? What is this, April Fool's Day? Right, guys? Sorry.
Anyway, yes, there's finally some movement in what has been a pretty immovable chart for the last month or two. After several weeks of fluctuation, FIFA 21 finds itself back in the top spot thanks to Easter offers.
The majority of the top 10 is still a Nintendo fest, but PlayStation titles punctuate here and there. Outriders, for instance, debuts in sixth place, with the PS5 version accounting for just over half the sales. Further down, Assassin's Creed Valhalla moves up into ninth, presumably due to the aforementioned Easter discounts. Just missing out on the top 10 is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which is up two places in 11th.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 3rd April 2021
- FIFA 21
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Outriders
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla
- Minecraft (Switch)

slow week for playstation
6 of the 10 are Switch exclusives lol still toping the charts.
Shame Rise or Outriders couldn't be no 1.
Man sony have to learn how to make evergreen titles like nintendo, probably try to make family friendly titles like animal crossing or maybe hot shot golf titles coupled with smartphone version for playing on the go.
Also I predict most of next-gen games sales will be on ps5 since xbox already trained their fans to not buy games and subscribe instead, it will be interesting to see which strategy is better later in the next few years.
@WallyWest With Outriders going to GamePass and with it being online all the time definitely put it on my bargain bin list and I really enjoyed the demo.
@wiiware All I am going to say, is that Gravity rush looks like an Nintendo game...
Outriders won't even be in top 10 next week and I can see why, really surprised that monster hunter rise isn't at the top
@wiiware They tried over and over again, but failed... miserably. Tearaway should have been a hit! The audience is simply not there for it.
@UltimateOtaku91 Outriders is fantastic though.
With outriders on Game pass I'm a bit surprised it charted at all. But its really quite out there so folks are looking for anything new I suppose.
The past 2 weeks must have been really poor on the PS5 console restock front with no sign of Miles Morales.
@rachetmarvel That explains the overwhelming charm the music and the game as a whole gave me, also I would definitely approve of Sony selling the IP to Nintendo and letting them continue 😊
Not a surprise. pushsquare predicted nobody would buy Outriders on PlayStation and that launch would be a disaster. it s a bit like Pachter now if they predict one thing expect the opposite.
Loving the game. Exactly what I needed.
"Outriders Is Going to Be a Commercial Crater on PS5, PS4"
Guess that article didn't age well fellas lol🤣🤣
Just went over to Metacritic to check out Outriders, and it sounds like it's having it's share of problems. I had high hopes for this, but I'll wait for the 2 heavies. Heavy Discount and Heavy Patching.
PlayStation gamers are trained to BUY the games they want instead of renting
And the sales numbers only serve to further enforce the facts that Sony doesn’t need or want a Gamepass alternative like all the Xbox fans and non gamers are asking for
@JJ2 @redd214 PushSquare hasn’t accurately predicated anything about this current generation of PlayStation gaming they are literally as out of touch as the general public these days
@Juanalf I would not. I'd rather a new company sprung up that has a goal to seeing games like that thrive rather than archived.
@WallyWest according to metacritic its not plus its had issues with its servers, a brand new ip from square enix and it can only manage 6th isn't the best, I fully expect it to drip out of the top 10 by next week.
I will give it a try on gamepass once the servers have been fixed and are stable
hopefully means devs will switch priorities to PS5 sooner rather than pandering to the PS4 player base and letting next gen lag
@naruball @rachetmarvel Yeah, unfortunatelly most of ps users didn't care too much for family friendly games. I think gravity rush series will do better if it's nintendo ip, not mario/zelda kind of success but at least bayonetta 2/astral chains kind of success. Rather than pc I wish sony port GR franchise to switch, just like gr-vita/gr-ps4/gr2, I'll surely buy it again
@2cents so why do you even use this site then?
@Northern_munkey personally I’d love to have my own business in the gaming industry
It’s just sad to see gaming news sites squander their immense privilege and responsibilities on dramatic reaction think-pieces and using Twitter as their ultimate source of information
@wiiware Sony don’t need to make family friendly games just so they look good in weekly charts. PlayStation sells vast amounts of software more than Nintendo consoles.
In the 3 quarters up to dec 31st(the latest we have financial results for) Nintendo sold ~160m units of software and Sony ~260m. The year before was an even larger percentage lead.
Sony also 40m subs for ps plus and a much higher digital percentage(digital games generate more than twice as much revenue for platform holders)
@UltimateOtaku91 83% for critic reviews, granted 4 reviews only because many have yet to finish it. 6.7 for user what makes sense as the server issues were bad, that will increase over time no doubt as most who play it are loving it.
Nintendo doesn't even need a new IP to boost sales and I can't believe AC Valhalla is still in the top 10 while Demon's Souls and Spiderman is nowhere to be found. I think Outriders could be free to play at some point once they introduced DLC expansions just like Destiny.
@2cents Sony not wanting to push a similar subscription to Gamepass is beneficial to them and not the consumer. PR wise its bad with Outriders and MLB the Show having day one access to GP while PS owners need to buy those game, but it does make financial sense to them.
why does pushsquare even bother reporting on a physical sales chart if it doesnt include digital sales over half the sales are missing making it totally inaccurate thus pointless
@LordSteev outriders doesnt need patches it all runs fine its the login servers that are the problem
@Dekutheevilclown I want sony to make family friendly games so there's variety in their games lineup, like full scale astro titles or maybe ape escape, or even new little big planet/tearaway for ps5.
@WallyWest
Rise was #1 in charts last week. It's sales have dropped 74% from the previous week. I assume most people that wanted it bought at launch.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
PS4 sales of Outriders accounted for 31% compared to 52% on PS5. Not enough of a gap for that to be happening just yet.
@naruball I genuinely think that a new Gravity Rush game on Switch would absolutely fly of the shelves. I think there's certain niche games that just seem to flourish on certain platforms. Fire Emblem, to me, has always been super niche but Three Houses sales numbers have pushed it so much more into the mainstream.
Crazy how much Nintendo are dominating the UK.
@__jamiie I agree. It'd definitely be successful on switch, especially if it were a first party game.
Blimey the Switch games sales have been strong month on month.
@trev666
It's my understanding that you have to be logged in to play the game, even single player.
