Sci-fi survival horror RPG Chernobylite will bunker down on PlayStation 4 in July, with a native PS5 version to follow later in 2021. The title takes you to Pripyat and the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, where you’ll assume the role of a physicist investigating the loss of a loved one. You’ll need to build up a base, forge relationships, recruit allies, and advance your abilities in order to learn the fate of your beloved. Unfortunately, there are some supernatural secrets lingering in the shadows.
This is a role-playing release in every sense of the word; you determine your approach, so whether it’s stealth or all-guns blazing, you can play exactly as you want to. You’ll need to craft equipment, feed your friends, and gather as much information as possible to influence your choices. There’s a new trailer embedded above which should give you a better idea of what to expect – Chernobyl has been 3D scanned, so this is about as authentic as you’re going to get without literally travelling to Ukraine.

This looks kinda cool! I imagine it'll be quite janky, but lots of interesting ideas here!
Part of me is intrigued and the other part knows there’s STALKER 2 coming to Xbox which has a 99.99999% chance of being better given that series’ pedigree. I’ll keep an eye on this.
@nessisonett I believe this has some STALKER developers working on it, but could be wrong!
@get2sammyb It would make sense. They really seem like they want to truly represent the area in video game form. It’s a Chernobyl endeavour.
Wow this actually looks pretty cool, getting some Metro Exodus vibes from it. Would have loved to see this be co-op.
never heard about it before looks like could be my kind of game
I'm intrigued. It's on Steam early access with mostly positive reviews. Keeping an eye on it.
Read an article recently about how RPGs have a hard time staying away from the fantasy/LOTR aesthetic. I'm loving that so many recent announcements have them branching out from it.
@nessisonett This post did not get anything like the love it deserved in the first 25 minutes since you posted it. Superb.
@gregarus to be fair I had to subvocalise @nessisonett's post with a bad pronunciation before I got it.
I believe it's more like Sh-err-knob-ill than Ch-err-noble
I appreciate the pun anyway.
@theheadofabroom Haha! I see the problem. But, all the best jokes require some work on the audience's part.
@theheadofabroom It ain’t a pun unless it relies on extremely dreadful butchered pronunciation.
@nessisonett all the best jokes need to be explained anyway. Stewart Lee tells me so.
Looks like a cool marriage of METRO and Fallout 4’s base building. Color me intrigued!
Wow this looks awesome - and to think I've not even heard about it. At all.
Mmmmm colour me intrigued. It looks good, I am though wary that this has just popped up from knowhere 3 months before release - much like Werewolf: The Reckoning, and that turned out to be a bit of a stinker. Worth waiting till the native PS5 version?
Wow, I really liked that. Definitely picking up some Fallout vibes, in the best possible way. Never heard of the Developers, so I'll probably wait for some reviews, but color me impressed!
I remember when this was on Kickstarter. Back then it was for PC only. Glad it's coming to Playstation.
Worth pointing out this has been in early access on Steam for some time with generally positive feedback (there are always some idiots who don't understand that early access games aren't finished, and that it's only £20 because they're pretty of the community testing effort, and they'll get the game proper when it's ready)
@nessisonett
Considering the other Stalker games were buggy messes only saved by the modding community i wouldn't hold my breath on it honestly
"Build your team". So is this SP or MP?
