After releasing "feel-good management sim" Spiritfarer in August of last year, developer Thunder Lotus has returned with its first free update for the relaxing experience. This new batch of content just so happens to coincide with the confirmation that the game has now sold more than half a million copies worldwide, which makes it the "studio's most popular game ever". The Lily update is available to download now on PlayStation 4 and adds Lily the Butterfly Spirit as a brand new character. They will provide further depth and detail to protagonist Stella, which coupled with enhancements to local co-op play and bug fixes, means Spiritrafer now boasts more content and runs smoother than ever.

As part of a press release reported by Gematsu, creative director Nicolas Guerin said: "We wanted to keep the Lily update small, to address the single most common feedback we’ve received from players since launch: fans want to know more about Stella and what, ultimately, her quest is about. It’s the emotional core of the game, so we wanted to get it right; Lily offers a sweet and personal window onto who Stella is, and we hope the players like what we’ve done with this update."

Guerin then claims the finishing touches are being applied to the other two updates planned for Spiritfarer, which are said to be much more gameplay heavy. Will you return to the world of Spiritfarer to sample this free update? Let us know in the comments below.
