Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart stars in gameplay blowout

The second State of Play of 2021 has a very specific focus: Insomniac Games’ upcoming PlayStation 5 adventure Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. We’ll be treated to around 15 minutes of gameplay during the broadcast, but newcomer Rivet and crew will be bookmarked by updates on a couple of indie titles. Join us from 2PM PT/10PM BST for all of the action.

There are open areas to explore, dimensional Clank puzzles, arena challenges, minigames, aerial combat, gold bolts to collect...

Rivet is riding a beetle through rifts, with the environment changing as she moves through them.

There are "dimensional pockets" which look like hidden areas to us.

As with previous Ratchet & Clank games, you can buy and upgrade your weapons from Ms Zurkon. Topiary Sprinkler transforms enemies into bushes which you can cut down.

As you'd expect, loads of DualSense stuff going on. Different weapons will handle differently.

There's now a dash that Ratchet can do -- very Returnal! There's also a rift tether you can use to traverse through the world quickly.
