Final Fantasy XIV Shows Off 15 Minutes of PS5 Footage

Loading times are rapid, as you'd expect

Uber-popular MMO Final Fantasy XIV is coming to PlayStation 5 soon, with an open beta due later this month. And here’s a brief look at 15 or so minutes of gameplay, courtesy of the livestream archive embedded above. The footage showcases the visual improvements, as well as the loading times, which are – as you’d expect – lightning fast.

This will be a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade for anyone who already plays the game, while there’ll be a free trial on Sony’s next-gen console if you’re yet to test this title out. I mean, from the footage it reminds me of the ps3 version tbh... Oh, well! I never really got into it tbh.

Look at the updated textures, 60fps, and the 4K resolution!.... on a 720p, 30fps video.

This is one of the games I'm most excited to try out when i can actually get a ps5. Such an amazing game

Lol... "Lighting fast" when loading from a empty Costa del Sol to a empty Limsa. Let's see if it stays as fast when loading into a pack area.

@Floki won’t be a difference. Player Characters are fine to load in after you arrive.
Only all base assets should be finished loading.

Even on PC with an SSD the loading is already incredibly fast. I play on SSD on PC and I see the same loading times in a fully packed server.

This game is long overdue for an engine update, or at least a significant graphical update. I love the story to death, but the zones always seem to barren

@tatsumi idk. I've seen a difference in load time when loading into a pack area vs none pack area. Even my friends PC that's running a RTX 2080 and a i9 9900k have seen a difference.

But we're generally extremely picky and laugh at our friends who load in 3-5 seconds later than us.
