Assassin's Creed Valhalla One Handed Swords

There's a chance that the headline of this article is going to come off as entitled if you're not familiar with Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but this is a surprisingly big deal. The open world adventure features a range of melee weapon types that you can play around with, including axes, spears, and two handed swords. But one handed swords have been missing since the game's launch last year.

The omission of one handed swords raised some eyebrows — especially since they featured heavily in both Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. What's more, a lot of non-playable characters (both allies and enemies) throughout Valhalla make use of one handed blades.

Their notable absence has resulted in many players requesting that one handed swords be added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and after months of popular Reddit posts, it sounds like it's actually happening.

YouTuber and streamer Jorraptor recently conducted an interview with the game's post-launch producer, Jose Araiza, and asked if we'd ever see one handed swords in Valhalla. Shockingly, Araiza gives a totally straightforward response: "Yes, it is coming". He goes on to say that the team didn't expect one handed swords to be such a popular request, and that the developers "want to do it right", so that it isn't just a reskin of a different weapon type. One handed swords are apparently "in the works".

So there you have it, one handed swords in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Is this a weapon type that you've wanted? Draw your blade in the comments section below.
