There's a chance that the headline of this article is going to come off as entitled if you're not familiar with Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but this is a surprisingly big deal. The open world adventure features a range of melee weapon types that you can play around with, including axes, spears, and two handed swords. But one handed swords have been missing since the game's launch last year.
The omission of one handed swords raised some eyebrows β especially since they featured heavily in both Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. What's more, a lot of non-playable characters (both allies and enemies) throughout Valhalla make use of one handed blades.
Their notable absence has resulted in many players requesting that one handed swords be added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and after months of popular Reddit posts, it sounds like it's actually happening.
YouTuber and streamer Jorraptor recently conducted an interview with the game's post-launch producer, Jose Araiza, and asked if we'd ever see one handed swords in Valhalla. Shockingly, Araiza gives a totally straightforward response: "Yes, it is coming". He goes on to say that the team didn't expect one handed swords to be such a popular request, and that the developers "want to do it right", so that it isn't just a reskin of a different weapon type. One handed swords are apparently "in the works".
So there you have it, one handed swords in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Is this a weapon type that you've wanted? Draw your blade in the comments section below.

I'm so bored with this game can not bring myself to play it now just somthing missing for me
@Latex is it one handed swords? Coz I heard they are coming
@kyleforrester87 Your head went there too?
Let me guess! The BEST looking and coolest abilities will be tied to one handed swords sold in the Animus Store or whatever they call it these days
Cool. Do they come with new glitches?
I won't be surprised if I see a headline in a few weeks that says "AC Valhalla's One-Handed Swords Corrupt Save Data" or something like that.
Incredibly moronic. Vikings used one handed swords more or less exclusively πππ
@BrettAwesome One of the reasons people have been demanding them! (And rightfully so.)
One handed swords should've been included from the very beginning. Now that that's been taken care of, I want a crossbow!
I got the Platinum Trophy a few days ago after a long, grinding, repetitive experience of a game. I'm not even sure what the ending was. It was like it wanted to be an open world with the story as the background. Why was there a fishing trophy?? But now at least we get one handed swords, the most basic weapon we should have had from the start. Thanks Unisoft, but I've moved on.
It's strange, I played the game with the perk that allows dual wielding two-hand weapons so it already feels like I played the game with one handed swords...
I'll be returning once we get the expansion. I really enjoyed the base game, I play them as a kind of therapy, the checklist nature of Ubi games is very soothing, almost meditative.
How can you make an action RPG and not include the most used and ubiquitous weapon ever?
Awesome idea! Why do. I never think of that? And the dual wielding heavy weapons looks so idiotic, I took the skill point out of that skill
@Voltan only 35 at the start then after the 200th update all will be fine. For 3 hours π€£
@kyleforrester87 I giggled
