Immortals Fenyx Rising's second and arguably most exciting expansion is out today on both PlayStation 5 and PS4. Titled Myths of the Eastern Realm, it doesn't have much to do with the main game. Instead, it's essentially a whole new adventure based on Chinese mythology, featuring a fresh hero named Ku. The story isn't as long as what you can find in the core release, and the open world map isn't as big, but from what we understand, it's still a reasonably sized experience.
Myths of the Eastern Realm was actually spearheaded by the publisher's Chinese studio, Ubisoft Chengdu. The DLC reskins and reuses a lot of content from Fenyx's adventure, but if you've been itching for more Immortals, you can't really go wrong.
The new expansion is part of the game's season pass, or you can pick it up separately for £11.99 / $14.99.

I absolutely loved the base game but the strategy with the DLC has been really odd considering it doesn't even feature the same characters. I may pick it up at some stage but after putting 40 hours into it already I need a break.
I would buy this as a standalone product just as a trial of the main game's flow and experience. Sort of weird to gate this unique storyline and experience behind the pay wall of the main game.
@MFTWrecks Yeah it's definitely a bit weird. This DLC can't even be accessed in the actual game — you just find it in the main menu. I wonder if it'll ever be released standalone?
I'll wait until the season pass is heavily discounted a few months from now.
@ShogunRok "you just find it in the main menu"
So it's really just it's own game, you can just boot it up first, no limit like "being level 30" or some such in TW3 and HZD?
Probably buying this this weekend after my son finishes FF7R - so much sewer filler - as the $99.99 bundle is on sale for $49.99 (edit that sale into the article maybe?) and just a few days ago I got $50 PSN credit for opening up a Playstation credit card. Was going to use it for a year of PS+ but basically getting a $100 bundle for $5 tax seems good too.
So anyway, my son could play this first, then the longer actual game later spoiler free? We're way more into the Eastern myths - thank you Journey to the West - than Greek. Though Greek is good too. Yeah, I'm too old to game these days, I just watch. Family time and all that. 😁
@rjejr Yeah it's completely separate from the main game. New character, new location, and none of your progress from the main game carries over.
Ku (Cu) means a$$ in portuguese LOL
But hey, I'm super excited to play this!
@ShogunRok FFXV episode dlc also does this, but I suppose that at least ties into the story. It's almost like a mini sequel then haha
Is the game doing well now, then? I remember it struggling on ps4 release.
@ShogunRok Thanks. You going to play it and review it? Just read thru a couple of others and it sounds like a mini version of the base game so bad reviews, but I'm thinking if we play this one first, it would be ok, and the base game expanding on it would then also be ok. 🤷♂️
@rjejr Yeah I'm gonna try and do a mini review if I can find the time to play it. Honestly, I quite like the sound of a smaller Immortals game. I like the main game but the length meant that the sheer amount of puzzles started to grate by the end.
The combat, visuals, environment and the Assassins' Creed-like map system are great in this game. I just CANT STAND the corny dialog and story in it. I had to skip every talking scene it was so bad. If this DLC follows that route, I won't be buying it.
Man. Why wasn't this the original game? After finally finishing AC:OD shortly before Immortal release. I had no interest in yet another game based around Greek myths... So I skipped Immortal and have no plans to ever pick it up. But this... I would have bought day one.
Love the banter between gods. Great game, good change of place after a month in Demon Souls. Love the wind waker cel shaded colors.
Would definitely buy this as a stand alone. Not sure how faithful it is to Chinese mythology, but it is great to see a departure from the usual Greek and Norse themes
Chinese myths are way more appealing to me, Greek was too overdone. I'd buy this on it's own without the base game If I could.
Great game and i'll try out the dlc's once i finish the main game..not in a rush as i'm enjoying it too much..
Ended up with both PS4 & PS5 versions of DLC in the download queue, which was annoying as only the PS5 version is on the console.
