Thanks to a quiet release schedule, the excellent Hitman 3 made a strong debut in last week's UK boxed games chart. It went straight to number one, but this week, it's slipped to number 11. This is due to a pretty steep sales decline, which is a very normal pattern for new releases — and remember, this doesn't include digital sales, where the game has done extremely well.
Games such as Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, meanwhile, are on the rise, up to fourth and third respectively. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is still performing well in fifth, with the vast majority of sales going to PS5 copies. Finally, FIFA 21 is hanging in there at number 10.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 30th January 2021
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Just Dance 2021
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- FIFA 21

Miles Morales still in the top ten word up son
But a bummer Hitman 3 already out of the top 10 but at least it beat the previous Hitman games sales. Still a win
I'm glad ioi already made their money back in just one week from the sales of hitman 3, I want to buy the game but I need to finish some of my backlog games first, like jedi fallen order and cyber shadow 😃
It'll be interesting to see if the next gen versions of GTAV boost it further up the charts.
This is good news for those of us holding off on Hitman 3 for a better price - likelihood of rapid price discounts and sales has just gone up.
Yeah its pretty clear i think the big sales for HM3 came from digital so i don't think this is bad news really. Nice to see Miles Morales doing well still as its fantastic, really shows how far Miles has come in the past few years and its surely only time before he appears in the MCU.
I think we'll see PS5 games in and out of top ten when more console stock shows up.
Nothing to worry about.
Crazy to see evergreens like Mario Kart 8 and GTA V in the top 10 every week, even many years after their release.
GTAV practically has almost if not all multiplayer modes in other games. There's Rocket League in GTAO, there's Destruction All Stars in GTAO, there's even NFL with cars, there's battle royale, there's everything. So next time you're wondering why it's still in Top 10, those are some reasons.
Animal Crossing, Minecraft, and GTAV have basically made profits exceeding the GNP of most small countries.
I just bought P5 Royal. I didn't think I'd like it but I tried P5 for 10 hours from PS plus collection, heard that Royal is just the better way to play it. And so took the plunge.
Physical ofc, for resale!
Not surprising. The Hitman series doesn’t nearly hold the weight of these other franchises.
GTA V needs to go away.
@TheArt The main reason is that everyone else has it. It's how masses think. Someone could make a great game with all those modes and there's still no way it'd do anywhere near as well.
@TheArt Did you ever play the player created 'Rockets vs Insurgents' game in GTAO? That was an absolute hoot with a few mates.
I'm looking at this chart and thinking that the majority of game buyers are in fact, not gamers. Seriously, how is Animal Crossing and MK8D still topping the chart?! Let alone GTAV. Every time I think Nintendo's lost the script, and their games are getting lazier and worse, they start dominating charts with it.
And since when did the UK turn Nintendo happy? This reads like a Japanese chart minus COD and GTA. I don't even know what world I live on.
I hope it's simply that you Brits have awful taste in everything but music....
@naruball Well somewhat true.
@ApostateMage Yeah I've played that mode. Most are fun. I could say this and RDO are the only online games I've played extensively this gen.
