The free-to-play sensation that is Genshin Impact will be delivering yet another free update for its dedicated fanbase next month to welcome in the new year. Starting on 3rd February 2021, the 1.3 update brings the Lantern Rite festival to the world of Teyvat. You'll be able to participate in this historic tradition, and be greatly rewarded for doing so. More than 1,600 Primogems, a free four-star Liyue character, and much more can be earned without payment.
The event will be divided into three stages, each based on completing requests for inhabitants. Completing them will raise the overall Festive Fever level and unlock further tasks as you progress. This all culminates on the celebration's final night where loads of lanterns are released into the sky, carrying the wishes of the people on the ground below. Developer miYoHo reckons this is the perfect opportunity to test your TV's HDR capabilities. "Either way, if you use an HDR screen with your PS4 or PS5, we highly recommend that you take this opportunity to put our HDR Display function to the test!"
There'll also be a tower defence-style strategy game to take part in alone or with friends as well as vendors selling games, snacks, and activities exclusive to the festival. "Finally, we’ve prepared some extra little surprises to thank everyone for your ongoing support and to help you get ready for a busy year of adventuring ahead: a daily login event, in which you can claim a total of 10 free Intertwined Fate, and an event challenge offering the chance to win a four-star Liyue character of your choice."

I feel conflicted.
On the one hand I finally understand people who seem to only play one live service game whether it be Fortnite, COD Warzone, Warcraft, Destiny, etc. Genshin is a bit like that, it is a wonderful world with fantastic core gameplay. It’s a lot of fun.
On the other hand, with hundreds of hours played, I feel a bit trapped and feel I need to escape but they keep adding more and more content In this wonderful adventure.
The game is good but it's tiring to login everyday to get bonus items or characters, it's like work so in the end I didn't play the game anymore.
Interested in playing this again for a bit on when I have ps5 though, ps4 pro performance isn't good.
Love this game, so looking forward to this update
@wiiware PS5 feels like a new game. The most impressive PS5 upgrade I have experienced so far.
Load times, frame rate, resolution, menu speed and more are all hugely improved.
But congratulations for escaping the daily login, you and spot on with your judgement
@wiiware
True. It suffers a bit on PS4, but on PS5, it runs much better
I initially enjoyed this game, but I saw the trappings and decided to force myself to give it up after a few hours before I spent any money, or became too invested and stuck treading water for countless hours of my life. However, I may return to it some day when it’s actually possible to complete the story/beat the game.
I will only really care for this game when it has a PS5 version
@TheLightSpirit Dont play this game, it's too good, and you'll never want to stop. Dont make the same mistake I did.
@LiamCroft just FYI, the video is not starting at the beginning but at 2:28...i.e., you embedded it to start there
@jipiboily Whoops, thanks for pointing that out!
I really wish they'll hurry up ad add cross saves to the PlayStation versions so that continue playing using PC saves
@TheLightSpirit You say that bow, but you'll give in and play it. Everyone always does.
I hope they can figure out cross save with all devices. It's real nice playing on mobile for a bit and then continuing on PC later. Would love to be able to do that on Playstation as well.
I really need a PS5 for this amazing game. My PS4 Pro sounds like a jet engine when I play it. I know I can fix that by setting my resolution to 1080P but the graphics are so rich in 4K.
