We’ve all had a bit of time to accept that storage space management is very much a thing on the PlayStation 5, but now it’s down to both the platform holder and publishers to ensure we have the tools we need to better manage the content on our console. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has a really interesting solution: you can actually delete modes you’re not playing.
For example, if you’re a big co-op Zombies player but never touch the competitive multiplayer, then you can save 40GB of space. Or alternatively, if you’re not interested in the Dead Ops Arcade mini-game, then you can ditch that and claw back a cool 10GB. It’s not the first title to try something like this, but we thought it was worth mentioning in this post-SSD climate we’re living in.

What about the campaign? For most people that's a one and done at most. Could probably shave off a good amount of space from that.
@Orpheus79V
Agreed. COD campaigns typically use super high resolution assets compared to multiplayer or zombies.
Campaign is the only part I am interested in
I really hope this is the norm in the future. I can save a ton of space by not installing all of the multiplayer assets.
Hmm id delete mp, zombies and arcade cause i only play story mode
That's nice, maybe I'll try the multiplayer a couple of times before deleting it and focus on finishing the main campaign.
Also be nice if you f.e. only install the single player, that only sp trophies are required for plat and have separate lists for other modes that are active when installed.
Nice. I only care about the campaign so I'll be getting rid of the other modes.
Honestly, I'm looking forward to playing all 3 game modes. Maybe when I'm truly done with the campaign, I'll uninstall that part from my ps5.
That's awesome. On PS6 there will be this option and the update is only going to download for the modes you have installed. For now, we'll just have to stick with downloading 20 GB updates that will update the multiplayer you don't have anymore and a few things in the singleplayer. Or am I wrong? That is something that's almost the same importance as the feature to delete those modes.
Not really interested in Call of duty but I hope most if not all developers play suit and give us options to install for each game title. As not every gamer plays online games they play just a game solely for the single player. I would find this feature very useful to be honest.
But I don't think the ps5 storage is an issue for myself as I play one game at a time and once completed I sell it on.
Well damn now I'm actually interested in this game. Watched like 20 minutes of TheRadBrad's campaign video on YouTube and it does look a lot better than I thought. I had the same feeling with Modern Warfare, but I ended up deleting that from my Pro's HDD because it gotten so rediculously big.
This is great i hope all developers implement this, i'm not a frequent COD player but Zombies would be gone straight away.Loads of games have bolt on multiplayer that i've never touched.
Also if we live in post-SSD what crazy new technology are you using?
Can you delete the campaign? I'll likely play through it once and then stick to the MP.
Just fired it up on the PS4, you can click R3 from the menu to manage content. You can uninstall the Campaign.
deletes mutliplayer and zombies
You can do this on ps4 as well, the story was broken down into 3 files, then the others obviously so it was great what you wanted to install. Modern warfare also has this option on ps4 as I saw it earlier its a good option for those who don't want all of it.
I'm surprised it's taken so long for consoles to do this. PC has been doing this since original MW2/BO. 🤷♂️
