Treyarch has shared a first glimpse at the incredibly in-depth Zombies mode shipping with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War this November. Much like the titles before it, this really does feel like its own game within a game as members of the team describe how they're overhauling the experience with free post-launch content, a brand new story, and progression and load-outs that tie into every mode available.
"Black Ops Cold War sets the stage for a new Zombies experience that not only celebrates our entire Zombies heritage, but uses it as an inspiration to build a completely new chapter in our universe." The trailer contained in the first look video embedded above does a good job of detailing that quote to the tune of a seriously questionable cover of Marilyn Manson's Tainted Love. The Treyarch team then teases that mechanics and items from previous iterations will also be brought back alongside some enemies that just won't stay dead.
So, Zombies mode will be there at launch (obviously) and all of the new maps and content added to it afterwards will be free. After Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 sold them for cash, this is very much a welcome change. Will you be checking out the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War? Shuffle and moan in the comments below.

I could not care less about Call of Duty but if they released a standalone version of the zombie mode I'd actually be interested. Left4Dead and the original CoDWaW zombie mode were some of the most fun multiplayer experiences I've had.
I saw the article screenshot and thought this was Ori for a sec lol
.....Marilyn Manson’s Tainted Love.
Marilyn Manson’s Tainted Love.
No.
The vocals in this are from the Soft Cell version, which predates the Manson cover and in fact the original is a Northern Soul song from 1964.
@nessisonett Sorry lol
Activision: Good Idea!
@LiamCroft
I like zombie mode in black op 3 since there's a full single player game portion of it, it's just remake of the games main campaign with the added narative but it's quite good, I like it more than the (little bit confusing) main story.
@nessisonett I was going to do write the same comment! HAHAHA!!!
Day one game mode for me!
Tainted love was originally by soft cell, manson did a pretty good cover...
Zombie mode looks mental!! I've read bad reports regarding the MP aspect of the cold War side though.
JUGGERNOG IS BACK! DAY ONE.
@nessisonett Yeah, I was about to say this haha Another people say is his is "Sweet Dreams" and that's worse for me because Eurythmics guitarist (Dave Stewart) used to live a few minutes from me and we used to chat now and then.
Also Manson's guitarist was the real star, he has a new band called "John 5 and the Creatures" which do some cool semi prog thrash and rock style riffs mixed with other genre influences.
@Jayofmaya I’m pretty sure I’d totally freak if Dave Stewart lived near me! I do love that whole 80s synthpop scene, I guess my only claim to fame there would be that my great-granny was best pals with Jimmy Somerville’s mum 😂
@nessisonett Yeah! He moved out to LA like 12 years ago, though, so I haven't spoken to him since! He was a nice guy. He played my our local fete to raise money for our committee haha Playing for crowds of thousands then to play to a couple of hundred that managed to see the highlight in the local paper. XD
That's cool! I've heard the name, but I'm not sure on songs? What were a couple I'd have heard?
@Jayofmaya He’s the singer from The Communards and Bronski Beat so you’d definitely know Smalltown Boy and Don’t Leave Me This Way.
Talking about musicians playing to tiny crowds, I worked with a guy who grew up living in Van Morrison’s street. That man really did not want to play Brown Eyed Girl to a group of snot-nosed kids on his doorstep 😂😂
@nessisonett I recognise Smalltown Boy for sure, but I don't think I had heard the other song until now! Oddly enough with the sax it reminded me a bit of Phil Collins haha
Van Morrison's a classic
