There's no questioning the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series' huge impact on PlayStation. The franchise has not only been an enormous seller for Activision, it brought skateboarding into popular culture and made The Birdman a household name. So, what's the story on how it all came to be? A new documentary, titled Pretending I'm a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story, charts how the original game got made.
The film includes "never-before-seen footage and interviews with legendary skater Tony Hawk, as well as industry stars Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, and Eric Koston". For fans of both skateboarding and video games, this will likely be worth a watch. With Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 hitting PS4 in a few weeks, now seems like a great time to pop this on and get educated. It releases today on various digital storefronts, including iTunes/Apple TV, Google Play Store, and Amazon Prime.

Awesome! I grew up with these games and played countless, countless hours. Can't wait to play the remakes!
Brilliant, I need to give this a watch.
I remember getting a free demo of 720Β° on the front of Commodore User magazine back in the day and loving it!
Used to love these games, going to the x-games in 2004 and seeing Tony there while I was watching the skateboard events. After playing this probably bring out the skater in me will end up buying a board and doing the old tricks ππ€
@Bingbongboyo Haha I used to love my C64! I got my first skateboard that year and 720. That's when it all started. Been skating nearly 30 years now on and off π
@LocalPenguin very cool! I also got a skateboard after playing the game, but, unlike yourself, I was crap, and never managed to succeed! As long as I had 720Β° and the skating part in Summer Games, I was happy!
@Bingbongboyo Summer Games! Haha oh man, some of the games we had to play to get a skating fix π Official PlayStation Magazine did a demo for THPS and my friend and I lost our minds haha We played that demo for what must've been hundreds of hours π
@LocalPenguin I play rugby, so the quality for us rugby players has always been poor, unlike some.of the skating games, so count yourself lucky! I still prefer 720Β° to THPS, although that may be the rose tinted nostalgia glasses!
@Bingbongboyo Hahaha oh man, I used to play a lot of rugby too, rugby games suck! π 720 better than THPS? Hmmmm, may be a tad of the glasses on that one mate π
@LocalPenguin haha! I think you maybe right...
