It's no longer just Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales that can boast of a Korean rating as far as upcoming PlayStation 5 games go. The Demon's Souls remake joins the club, as spotted by Gematsu, and what's more, it has also been rated for release in Japan. Of course, these games were always going to launch in those territories on PS5, but it's the timing of it all which immediately becomes the talking point. The web-slinging spin-off is already confirmed for release later this year, but could the new take on From Software's original epic also be a launch title?
We don't think so, otherwise, why wouldn't Sony have slapped a release window onto the end of the announcement trailer back at its Future of Gaming event? It did so with the aforementioned Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales as well as Bugsnax, so it doesn't make too much sense to leave Demon's Souls out of that. Yes, official age ratings are usually handed out as a title draws close to its launch, but there are outliers to this.
We expect Sony to talk more about the PS5 and its line-up of launch games soon so let's hope this situation is sorted out before too long. Nevertheless, would you like to be playing Demon's Souls the day you pick up the Japanese giant's next system? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Maybe they want it as a surprise announcement for a future event when announcing a release date and price. I'm hoping there are some big announcements regarding launch titles as its looking pretty barren so far
@Medic_Alert maybe they where not sure yet because of ongoing world events etc.
better to hold of on a release date for a launch game than to have to announce a delay as launch games are crucial to the console sales.
I think it's a January or February title, just like the last two Bluepoint remasters.
That would settle my choice launch game then. If not, it'd be Ratchet and Clank hopefully.
Nah, everyone's running scared from Bugsnax
Oh man, I don’t think it will be, but if this is a launch title...
A launch title? Yes possibly, early 2021
This would be a cracking launch title, but it might be better served coming out in February or March the following year.
Of course it makes sense not to put a launch date on a game that you are unsure will make that date because of Covid-19. Sony gave themselves a HUGE headache at the start of the PS4 era, and heaped unnecessary pressure on Evolution Studios with Driveclub (another Sony franchise whose idea was ahead of its time like MAG and Warhawk). So why heap that pressure on Bluepoint? Internally Sony have learned a lot from the Driveclub / Evolution meltdown. Rumours were circulating in 2019 that Bluepoint, Insomniac, Housemarque and Polyphony were expected to have games at launch. I genuinely took that to mean Demon's Souls, Ratchet & Clank, the Battle Royale game Housemarque ditched, and maybe a souped up version of GT Sport. It now looks like it could be Demon's Souls, Spiderman Miles Morales, Returnal and GT7, whether any of them make the launch is up for debate, but as a launch line-up, whether day 1 or initial launch window, that's a damn strong selection of games. Throw in your Bugsnax, Destruction All-stars, Sackboys Big Adventure, Godfall (this generations Ryse Son of Rome) and a few other games from indie developers / third parties like Ghostwire: Tokyo and the PS5 and Sony will come out swinging.
Nice, spidey mm, demons souls, and a couple of indies is enough for me, after finishing it I can play my backlog ps4 games on ps5
I hope gt7 is also a launch game though.
don't forget that kena is also a launch game. it's smaller scale but that game has lot's of people's interest. i'm sensing a sleeper hit.
definitely not a launch title
@wiiware you will only get spidey and couple indies.
@jdv95 Yeah for sure. Kena and Spidey for me for Christmas, but Demon's Souls is the big one for me. If I had those 3 games at launch, that would be crazy.
But yes, definitely expecting Kena to be a bit of a dark horse.
I beat demon souls on my ps3 couple years ago.its definitely easier than dark souls as you can buy 100 health.and the levels are designed for you to beat one at once.but hopefully theres new content on it.as i dont remember every bosses.but this game was amazing.word up son
@jdv95 Kena looks really pretty but will also be released on PS4.
I'm happy for those that can purchase PS5 Day One but I'm going to have to wait a while before I can upgrade. I can't help.but think it would be better to delay it until the New Year and release with a bigger range of titles but I do appreciate that this wouldn't suit everyone!
@Col_McCafferty delaying the launch is swings and roundabouts. In the long run I don't think it'd harm the PS5, and might give them time to have a stronger launch line up. However, on the flip side launching this year with a weaker launch line up, maybe only one exclusive won't harm them either. My gut tells me keeping a steady flow of exclusives coming over the first few years is more important. Ultimately though neither delaying the launch, or launching with a slim line-up is perfect, so I'm sure Sony will pick their poison and try to make it work.
If this is a launch title I’ll jump on board day 1
That's awesome. Some gelly brains will complain it's an old game and a 'DLC' for launch. Guaranteed.
@jdv95 Really? I remember kena release date is holiday 2020, I'll get kena on ps5 if it's a launch title.
@Col_McCafferty
' it would be better to delay it'
Better for you,,? For Sony? For gamers who want it asap? I genuinely dont understand
@wiiware yeah. well my logic is that since kena aims at a holiday 2020 release it must be atleast very close to the ps5 release.
@JJ2 Well I already touched on this but for me personally and I think Sony as well. Many people will buy one regardless but if they were to delay until next year it stands to reason they'd have an even bigger range of launch titles than releasing it in November.
It's not as if the new Xbox is going to launch with some must play titles so Sony could afford to wait.
As I also said, I appreciate that there are plenty of people keen to get their hands on the PS5 asap and I don't bear them any ill will at all and hope they enjoy it.
👍
This is the only day 1 game I'm hyped about. The thought of no loading on death will break the genre.
@Col_McCafferty
I still dont get it. Not trying to argue but it doesnt change the fact that you can wait for when the time is right for you.
For Sony, the PS5 will be sold out no matter what.
For me, as a consumer (since its trending word these days,) I d like them to launch tomorrow haha. Because then, when a game I want is available, I can just walk into a shop and go home with it with no headache no hassle.
@JJ2 Okay but it's not matter of my choosing to wait but more that it is likely I will have to.
I think an extra delay would mean a stronger line-up at launch but as you said they'll still sell out regardless.
I don't see this launching in 2020 at all, but maybe Early 2021, we will have to wait and see.
It's still likely a launch window title rather than making launch day
I'm calling early next year since it'll line up with Shadow of the Colossus Remake's release
official playstation magazine's latest issue had about 100 games in its upcoming PS5 games feature.. about 30 were listed for "launch window" which was up til 6 months, demon souls wasn't one them - it was estimated 6-12 months. from my point of view, there isn't anything really desirable within those 30, and a lot of them are cross-gen annual/franchise releases. now that deathloop has been pushed, it's leaving the 'next-gen only' pile a bit bare for the first few months.
Well if it is good luck finding a ps5 left to buy...
@get2sammyb Hi there friend. If this gem of a game is a launch title for the PS5, than it´s going to be really good for Sony and for consumers if that´s the case.
So many people have become fans of Souls-like games in the recent years, that the possibility of playing the very first Souls title on PS5 is going to be a must.
Now just imagine getting a PS5 with Demon´s Souls, Spiderman: Miles Morales and Gran Turismo 7......
That would be insane.... And kinda of awesome.
Cheers, stay safe everyone and happy gaming to us all
That's very promising, games usually get rated very close to release... If this end up being a december/january game, it will make PS5 launch looks a lot more appealing.
But also make me worried about a partial release, i mean, less than 3 years for all Demon's Souls... Hope they don't plan to drop the multiplayer or something like that.
I've been calling this as a surprise launch title among my gaming buddies for a while now. Would be great to be right about it.
I’ve already explained to her indoors that if Demons souls is a launch game then do not come home without it
@RaZieLDaNtE agree 100%. Just them 3 games alone made me grin like a Cheshire Cat watching the stream. If they were the only launch titles on ps5 I would still be getting one over the SX.
It would make sense. Almost 4 years since their last name, and it’s just a rebuild of an existing game. Should totally be done by now.
Honestly, they could be unsure if it’ll be ready or not. It would also be a great announcement later on. Remember, they didn’t even actually say Miles Morales is a launch title, so them not saying it is before a not a good explanation.
@Mikey856 Hi there friend. Sorry for the late response. Yeah, those three games are going to be something else.
Fell in live with Gran Turismo with GT3 way back on PS2. Spiderman is my favourite Marvel Superhero and Insomniac made a remarkable job on the PS4 game.
And Demon´s Souls came out of nowhere and took hardcore gamers by storm.
Very excited for all of this games.
Cheers, stay safe and have a great weekend
