After months of rumours and a series of community teases, Activision has finally officially confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. That's all we have to go off of right now, but the full reveal will take place next week on Wednesday 26th August 2020 inside Call of Duty: Warzone. Development is led by Treyarch and Raven Software, with the game expected to launch on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
The Verdansk map itself will be the place to catch the full unveiling of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as the Battle Royale spin-off puts on what we assume will be a live event. This comes off the back of multiple teases in-game as well as ARGs the community had to solve. These unlocked more clues inside Warzone as players used codes to gain access to bunkers and huts. The title of the upcoming entry confirms the return to the Cold War era.

This whole ‘announcement of an announcement’ thing is just ludicrous. I understand they want to get viewers but come on, it’s like sending invites to your own surprise birthday party.
"Know your history"
But I already went through history classes in high school.
On a separate note, I always like seeing Raven Software mentioned since they're the only non-indie game developer in my state of Wisconsin. Which is cool.
Wasn't expecting to see Yuri Bezmenov in a CoD trailer lol
Is Cyberpunk delayed again?
@djlard No.
TREYARCH= worst developer in the world. Pure trash games over and over again.
I have not played a COD game since Blops II. I really enjoyed both Blops I and Blops II, but decided to leave the series after that because I had my enjoyment. Since it has been a while I am definitely looking forward to the game because I might jump back in since the series will feel fresh to me, at least I hope. Looking forward to next week.
Might be interested if it's got a 20+ hour single-player campaign.
🤣
I got to admit that was an interesting tease for what could be a very interesting plot. However the pessimist in me is screaming that this will be largely missed potential.
I'll probably give it a go when it comes to plus in 2 or 3 years. They really are dragging this on though not as bad as WB Montreal
@Chryssy75 The danger is in Democrat cities where they have been rioting for 80 days. The danger is Hidin Joe Biden whose been hiding in his basement for the last few months.Trump (the man responsible for the best economy of our lifetime) is the only man who can revitalise their American economy, bring back jobs whilst keeping taxes low. Don’t believe the main stream news
@Orange_Man_Bad
Keep telling yourself that. 😂 😂
@Chryssy75 please give me 5 reasons why Trump is bad
@jess3a3 It was a while ago but WAW was lit, best COD ever imo.
@ThroughTheIris56 agreed. I played it the other day. There is still a small community of players (350 roughly) who still play it
While on the subject, I recommend people to watch the full Bezmenov interview. Very fascinating stuff.
Can we please not get into political debates on this gaming forum @Orange_Man_Bad @Chryssy75 It's not even related to the article at all
@Orange_Man_Bad Are you talking about the peaceful protests? Yeah, those are still on-going. Of course, there's stil incidents of mobs breaking into stores and stealing literally everything, but that's completely different. I know a few people IRL in places like Portland that have attended numerous protests that were just people standing around for hours without incident.
As for Trump, and relating back to this Black Ops article, his handling of the pandemic pretty much sums it up. The mistakes people made in the 1918 flu were repeated in 2020, thanks in part to Trump dismissing the consensus of the WORLD-WIDE scientific community and repeatedly issuing his own opinion of how to handle the virus...which was often the exact opposite of warnings from the CDC and consultants like Anthony Fauci. People need to "know your history" (- Black Ops) and then learn from it.
Another lesson to learn from history: rich people aren't your friends, and neither are politicians. I can see you're all-in on Trump based on your username, but really tho...that dude is not your friend.
@Paranoimia Aayye, I hope not! Call of Duty is one of the only series where I can finish the entire game in a weekend, which I like because it's a short and sweet campaign with a lot of punch, and not diluted with a bunch of filler.
@Orange_Man_Bad I thought you’d be be a Biden supporter then considering he’s been hiding in his basement for months? Shared experiences and all?
@stinkyx Decent campaign would be essential for me, as I've no interest in the multi-player aspect. Won't pay £50 for 6-8 hours, no matter how good it may be.
Haven't bought a CoD game since CoD4:MW on PS3. I added the PS Plus version of MW2 Campaign Remastered to my list, but haven't downloaded it yet.
@Orange_Man_Bad Dude they are both terrible candidates and are both bought and paid for by corporations, they don't work for us 🤦
As for cod I remember when there was mass excitement when ever one was near, unlimited article's and just incredible excitement. It seems those days are way way behind us, is just oh neat a new cod.
@nessisonett isn’t E3 just an announcement about announcements?? Same as Nintendo directs! Without telling someone about a live event how can you expect people to watch said live event?
@djlard Not yet, hopefully it’s still on track
In the end we did most of that by voting for a clown 😅
Anyway,... liked WWII campaign I got for free as a PS+ game. I'll play this the same way someday I guess
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L Thank you for the suggestion, I will definitely keep it in mind. I did enjoy the campaigns on both Blops I and Blops II. I always felt Treyarch did a good job with those.
@stinkyx mistakes were made with the pandemic all over the world. It’s the governors responsible for lockdowns.
If you think Portland, Chicago, New York protests are peaceful, you’ve been watching too much fake news
Ive always liked the zombie modes in these games. I played BLOPS 1 zombies so much. I hope this one has a good zombie mode. Trump sucks pretty bad. 😀
@Orange_Man_Bad Like I said, I'm basing my facts over what I see IRL. I know people in Portland and California who have been involved in a number of peaceful protests, including some big ones. There's all that stuff at the Portland Federal Courthouse, but that's it's own thing. Likewise, I know people in Chicago who have seen firsthand convoys of vehicles looting an entire block of high-end stores downtown, but that's just straight-up looting in a highly-coordinated attack, with no actual protesting involved whatsoever.
Also, I hear your excuse for the USA's mishandling of COVID-19 all the time...other countries all over the world did a bad job, so it's okay if we did too. All that shows to me is that there are idiots all over the world who are actually MORE stupid than the people in 1918, despite all of our medical and technological advances (and benefit hindsight).
Anyway, it's a crazy time, no matter how you look at it, and Trump has done a horrible job of calming people down or making the situation better. Just look at George Floyd's death at the center of all of the civil unrest: Trump has said little, and done less. And he has a direct line of contact with the people of the US via Twitter, without any filter from the media.
Uh...in other news, I'mma get the new BLACK OPS day one
@Juanalf Yeah, if you consider that a company will easily spend millions of dollars on a Super Bowl ad, why wouldn't they "donate" tons of money to politicians to get certain laws passed? I've seen it myself, on a much smaller scale, when a huge local brewery (with national distribution) somehow got our local City Council to block a project I was working on for no apparent reason, effectively destroying a businesses and wasting a bunch of money for the current owner. Turns out, the brewery wanted to buy the land for a new facility, and eventually did.
The salary of our elected officials is NOTHING compared to what big companies can throw at them.
@ellsworth004 Yeah...zombies! The main thing I wanna see with zombies is a more coherent story. That's one aspect I've always wanted to get into, but it's been so obscure.
Infinity Ward COD= Gold
Treyarch COD= Trash
@Trajan No wonder Putin paid for bounties on American soldiers.
American military= Most pathetic useless group of terrorist in the world.
@Nah900 what the ***** are you talking about?😂😂😂
@Nah900 The USA lost every war since WW2 - Iraq Afghanistan Iraq- So ashamed you Americans don't even talk about your recent war failures
@Nah900 Cold War victory? What the hell do they teach in schools over there?
@Nah900 There were no winners in the Cold War. Only losers, the Koreans, Vietnamese, Cubans and Algerians. Saying that the Americans won for helping to de-escalate a conflict that they were just as culpable for as the Soviets is silly, Gorbachev deserves as much credit as Reagan if not more. There are no good guys and bad guys when it comes to major world powers, just look at the many war profiteers and oil barons who benefited from every conflict after WW2.
@Nah900 The Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, British Empire and USA are all examples of countries too big for their own good that have systematically oppressed entire groups of people, committed mass genocide and generally been bad. The point is that no country is good and the Cold War was more complicated than ‘America beat those dirty Commies’.
@Nah900 If you think that literal Nazis are the lesser of two evils then you’re either massively deluded or just don’t read up on things before you spout off.
@SaikoWaifu2003 ""Know your history" yes you better do because the game will teach you that the Soviets were the ones who employed Nazi scientists..."
Well... the soviets actually employed nazi scientists at the end of WW2. Just like the USA did (Operation Paperclip).
@SaikoWaifu2003 well, for a lot of people, they were the bigger culprits. I'm not suggesting the other side don't have responsibility as well, just to be clear.
@SaikoWaifu2003 i didn't see the campaign of the game, so.. i cannot say if it will have such distortions. And who can tell what is right or wrong in this subject? I think it's more like a point of view or what side suits your political (or system?) preference and not who is right or wrong.
@SaikoWaifu2003 Since when Wolfenstein is a game based on historical events? The fact that the COD franchise has a history of portraying the darker aspects of America's conduct in conflicts to the other side, doesn't bothers me (and i'm not american). I know it's fictional games and if i want to know history, maybe it's better find some books about it. A game, certainly isn't the best choice to choose if you want to learn about history.
@SaikoWaifu2003 don't bothers me at all, if you are point this out. I just think interesting someone discussing a fiction based game, pointing that it shouldn't be this or that way, or if someone is good or bad, because of historical events. You have mentioned the wolfenstein game, for an example, and everybody know that game as a fiction.
Censorship it's a tool that dictatorial regimes loves to utilize to control the people.
@SaikoWaifu2003 Really? Do you know someone that based his thoughts about WW2 at fictional movies?? I don't.
