Despite being unveiled during the latest Xbox showcase, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is also heading to PlayStation 4 in 2021. Well, in Japan at least. It seems to be a timed exclusive on Xbox One and Xbox Series X here in the West, but we're hoping to get more confirmation on this as soon as possible, so stay tuned.
New Genesis is a "complete" overhaul of Phantasy Star Online 2, which has been around for a long time. It's aiming to redesign everything from gameplay systems to visuals, all in the hope of creating the "ultimate" Phantasy Star Online experience.
Let's hope SEGA brings it over here on PS4, eh?

I have great memories of playing Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast. That was before I had broadband, so I needed to use the phone line with a modem!
This game can’t come soon enough. But if all else fails I’ll steal my sons Xbox for a week or two.
@VitaminDJ Ah Yes The Good Old Days Of The Internet
Isn't it exclusive to Xbox/Windows 10 in the west?
They take so freaking long with these things...
@Link41x I think Microsoft has the western localization and porting rights, and claimed they would port to all platforms, but always PC first > Xbox Next > PS4 or Switch next
That deal occurred before new consoles were announced so no word on PS5 support, if it ever gets it.
Glad they upgrading this.
The one from the microsoft store now lasted 1 week before I uninstalled. It plays and looks rough.
It might just be my eyes getting bad in my old age (turned 30 in May, pray for me...), but the font and icons seemed incredibly small!
@Crimson_Ridley Very common issue with PC ports to consoles. They almost never fixed for TVs view distances.
The nintendo switch also has a similar problem with text size on 3º party games.
I've been waiting for this to come state side forever. Wasn'tan online gamer during the Dreamcast days, yet still bought & loved PSO 1 & 2. Please release it on PlayStation!
