Bandai Namco is the latest publisher to announce its own digital showcase as the gaming industry continues to adjust to the lack of an E3 this summer as well as the coronavirus pandemic. Titled Play Anime Live, this livestream will feature news and trailers for the publisher's line-up of upcoming games on consoles, PC, and mobile.
Given the title of the presentation, we would expect Play Anime Live to focus on Bandai Namco's licensed titles and the likes of PlayStation 5 game Scarlet Nexus. Basically, what we're trying to tell you is that you shouldn't expect Elden Ring to put in an appearance at this event. With Microsoft appearing to have marketing rights to From Software's next game, this feels like too small of a stage for Hidetaka Miyazaki's next project. Play Anime Live will be stream across all the usual platforms on Wednesday 22nd July at 4pm PT / 7pm ET. For those based in the UK, this will be a livestream which kicks off at midnight. We're all used to it by now though, right?
What games do you hope Bandai Namco shares as part of the Play Anime Live showcase? Make your predictions in the comments below.

Microsoft bought From Software and Elden Ring is a Series X exclusive. Calling it now.
So what are the odds on an arena fighter being shown off? Roughly 95%?
@Enuo Considering Demon’s Souls is a PS5 launch title, I doubt it.
C'mooooon. Big money, big money, Digimon Survive release date!
Next Dragon Ball Fighterz character perhaps?
Pac-man VR lol you never know?
@nessisonett Demon's IP is owned by SIE and the Remake is developed by BluePoint, nothing to do with FS there.
Anyways, FS been bough by MS is just bonkers.
FS is actually part of a BIG japanese Corp, i think they are going nowhere and will remain 3º party for years to come.
Pass. 😬
@get2sammyb So, not leading the live stream then? 🤣
@Makina Even so, the game has the name Souls in it. There’s no way they’d be bought out by Microsoft when Sony were the company that took a chance on them in the first place!
Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Spring arena fighting game. I’m calling it.
Cool, can't wait to see more of the Tales game.
Doubt scarlet nexus will be there.
They will have Sword art online (some dumb name), gundam extreme versus maxi boost on, captain tsubasa, tales of crestoria and if we are lucky, another look at tales of arise. Maybe something on their existing fighting games (dbfz, jump force) too.
I love anime - but anime games rarely meet what I would want from them. It feels like 9 times out of 10 they just make a generic 1v1 fighting game and slap a bunch of the characters into it. With only the absolute largest and most overwhelmingly popular series getting anything close to the kind of games I would hope for.
It baffles me because there are so many great anime that seem like obvious choices to make into JRPGs or action adventure titles or shooters or racers or platformers or sports games and... we rarely get those.
@Heavyarms55 The Sword Art Online Games Are Pretty Decent They Are What I Would Want a New Dot Hack Game To Be Like. But The Thing That Gets Me Is Why Aren't The Naruto Games Open World JRPGs Instead Of Fighting Games.
I hope for third season pass for Shinobi Striker..
I want a release date for Little Nightmares 2! So excited
So it will be Anime based games presentation licensed by Bandai Namco?
@Areus Yeah that's true. I did like the SAO games.
Thanks for sharing this announcement, looking forward to hearing new updates about some Bamco games I'm looking forward to.
Off the top of my head for sure, anything related to Sword Art Online, Scarlet Nexus, or Digimon Survive.
