We had a feeling Housemarque would show up at the PlayStation 5 reveal event, and we weren't disappointed. It's new game, Returnal, has been announced for PS5, and it looks like a bit of a departure from the studio's usual stuff.
It stars a woman who appears to be stranded on an alien planet and caught in an infinite time loop. The video description tells us a little more -- the game "combines side-scrolling action with roguelike gameplay into a third-person shooter where players fight to survive a hostile planet that changes with every death". It sounds like it'll be making use of all the PS5's bells and whistles, like adaptive triggers and 3D audio.
What do you make of Returnal? Check the time in the comments section below.

I'm curious they said PlayStation Studios when Hermen Hulst was talking !! Did Sony purchase House Marque??
Like so many trailers, initially it seemed really interesting, then all went a bit weird and seemed less so. The horror elements and apparent rogue-like gameplay make me think it’s probably not for me.
It looks good to me. Psychological horror things pique my interest.
Reminds me of the film Edge Of Tomorrow.
@Lifestranding. I believe so.this game looks amazing.word up son
This will be their big break opportunity, let's hope they don't blow it like ReadyAtDawn.
@ApostateMage Hi there. I was thinking the same thing. "live. Die. Repeat." Housemarque has mde two of my most played Vita games, Super Stardust and Resogun(also on PS4). Can´t wait to get addicted to this. Cheers and happy gaming to everyone
Returnal and Death Loop caught my eye with the time loop theme tho I think I preferred Death Loop. Still I will keep an eye on this
I love how they stealth dropped that Housemarque is part of Playstation Studios without making a giant deal of it like when Microsoft bought a bunch of studios.
@Lifestranding It's because it's likely being published by Sony and perhaps they also own the IP. I'd imagine if they did indeed acquire them, we'll know about it soon enough. Personally speaking, they'd be a perfect addition to the World Wide Studios family.
@b1ackjack Got to love those weirdo's in Japan. 😆
@Bliquid Its looks really cool doesnt it. 😃
This looks amazing to me. It looks like the addictive shooting of most Housemarque games, but with an over-the shoulder perspective ala Resident Evil 4 rather than their normal top-down style.
Then you throw in high quality production and an eery sci-fi storyline. This is one I’m looking forward to seeing more of.
#3 behind Horizon and Demons Souls. A nice surprise.
Definitely intrigued me but it'll wind up being a bargain bin game.
