Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is probably one of the more unique entries in Activision's blockbuster franchise. It famously shipped without a single player campaign, instead opting to place the focus on multiplayer, zombies, and Blackout mode. That was the series' first attempt at the Battle Royale formula and is still arguably its best yet. Anyway, a campaign was actually in development for the sub-series' fourth entry, but it was scrapped in early 2018. That still hasn't stopped some early footage displaying what Treyarch was aiming for from leaking onto the internet.
Viewable below after Eurogamer reported on the Reddit post, we have two minutes worth of footage which takes place on the multiplayer map titled Seaside. This is quite clearly an early build so don't expect anything too impressive.
The campaign mission tasks you with finding the Aquilis CEO as you take down terrorists and avoid shooting civilians. The Reddit poster claims they found the footage online in an "incredibly obscure" place, whatever that means. Nevertheless, this is still a welcome peek behind the curtain at what could have been.
Were you a fan of the direction Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 took? Or should a Call of Duty game always come packaged with a single player campaign? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Voted with my wallet and chose not to buy Black Ops 4 because they cut the campaign. Unfortunately for me it didn’t make even a little bit of a difference as it sold more than previous entries 🙃
and a 3rd...
I didn't buy either!!
Campaign> any other multiplayer experience EVER. I have 1000 ranked games in League of Legends this season (since january) and none of those hours even compare with a good singleplayer experience.
@Jacko11 One more here too who avoided the release due to the campaign being cut.
I read in another article it was supposed to be a 2v2 campaign at first, I guess maybe kinda like Titanfall 1's multiplayer "campaign" (if you ever played that game, it was certainly not anything you could call a real campaign, lol).
I've always been intrigued by the "hero" characters of Black Ops 3 and 4 and wish they had their own big story to blast through (in co-op). Oh well.
I bought Black Ops 4 but it's the game I've played least since MW3. Felt like a value pack of 3 random games thrown together instead of a cohesive package. The battle royale mode was especially bad, IMHO, since it felt too much like a dirty rip-off of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
I only buy Call of Duty for the campaign. Needless to say that I didn't buy Black Ops 4. Black Ops 1 was the last one I played loads online and that was the PC version too.
No campaing no money was a difficult decision because the MP looked great.
Didn't buy it because they didn't include a campaign might aswell have just made a f2p game like Fortnite
