It goes without saying that a full PlayStation 4 remake is going to look infinitely better than a 20-year-old PS1 title. Still, it's fun to see the difference, isn't it? The latest series to get the remake treatment is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, which follows Activision's other retro revivals. The original game released in 1999, but the debut trailer brings the franchise bang up to date with impressive visuals. However, it's hard to appreciate the upgrade until you see side-by-side comparisons.
Fortunately, Activision has provided a handful of these. Take a look:
Vicarious Visions is the studio behind this remake of the first two Tony Hawk titles. The team is not only responsible for the ace Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, they also have history with the series, developing portable versions of the games. There's some pedigree here, then, and with the Crash revival such a success, it seems the birdman is in safe hands. It's certainly looking good -- let's hope it plays as well as we remember.

So many good memories from these games. I hope the gameplay is as good as the graphics and I personally am feeling optimistic.
My main surprise here is how well the PS1 graphics hold up. They obviously look a bit rough, and are not remotely close to the new version, but they still look pretty playable.
If really like to see them tackle Tenchu after this
I played them on the Dreamcast. In my head the graphics were more like those on the right.
@BionicDodo Agreed. I'd still play the PS1 version.
I’m super pumped for this, but the levels look really empty, for a current gen game. It’d be cool if they had a mode where they were populated with other skaters. Have they mentioned online co-op??? Would be awesome to get in a private room with like 4-6 other skaters...
This is basically my dream come true. I've been waiting for some sort of old school THPS games on PS4. Just gutted a) it's not THPS3 and b) I've got to wait until September!!!
I am all over this like a tramp on chips
@Ear_wiG Yeah, I`ve noticed too.
