A number of new PlayStation 4 releases have brought a welcome shake-up to the UK sales charts over the past couple of weeks. However, the surprise this time around is the unexpected return of one of the console's best exclusives. The Last of Us Remastered has reentered the top 10, climbing seven places while Final Fantasy VII Remake is the only new entry for this week -- coming in pole position. It sold roughly 60,000 units, half of what Final Fantasy XV managed in its first week on retail shelves. The Coronavirus will have played a large part in dwindling those numbers, however.
Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare drops a single place as it makes way for the Square Enix remake, FIFA 20 swaps positions with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Resident Evil 3 drops five places. As always, Grand Theft Auto V continues to occupy a position towards the back of the top 10 list.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 12th April 2020
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- FIFA 20
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Forza Horizon 4
- Resident Evil 3
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
- Grand Theft Auto V
- The Last of Us Remastered

well deserved FF7.
what a wonderfull game.
doing the boss fight at chapter 4 atm.
I guess that shows that a game can continue to sell well despite having appeared on PlayStation plus.
Just starting chapter 2, I'm not in a hurry to finish ff7 remaster
I wonder why the resurgence of TLoU? Perhaps the pandemic has people wanting to play post-apocalyptic games more, although I would suspect the opposite to be true. Probably it’s just people gearing up for the sequel given that it was in the news recently for its delay.
Not a surprise it keeps selling. Good video games sell in long term anyways. Might be a suprise it is in charts now as the sequels release date has vanished into thin air. Plus there are more recent games I expected in the top ten. But generally spoken, I know for a fact, good games sell for years to come.
@Th3solution no you’re correct. Remember that Contagion returned to the Netflix top 10 as soon as this thing started. People just want to be in a fantasy right now. It’s a “not quite” distraction.
@Ryall Good point. Even though most Playstation owners don't PS Plus I have always assumed receiving games on the service decrease the probability of a game to sell big times again.
Probably lots of people buying ps4's to deal with the lockdown, and last of us remains a great game so had a surge of new sales.
Well done FF7. Great to see final fantasy back on top of its game. This is even more impressive given how difficult it it is to find the game physically- im assuming it's difficult to get follow up shipments right now
Last of Us is my favourite game of all time and certainly my most replayed game (got to be more than a dozen times). Having said that, I feel the need for escapism and unfiltered happiness in my life.
I bought Nioh 2, Persona 5 Royal and FF7 recently anf while I pumped a good 45 hours into Nioh, I have put all these games back on my shelf (my son is playing FF7) and have lost myself in Mario Odysee and Gravity Rush 2. Mario and Kat I have done a great job of keeping my spirits high 😄
Top of the Darts Leaderboard in the Seventh Heaven, loving FFVIIR just taking my time with it about 5 hours in on chapter 3. Will probably do another playthrough of The Last of Us before the arrival of the sequel!
Someone's been doing panic-buying wrong
Chapter 14 of FF now and its bloody great. I also appreciate the fact that if your part falls you can replay from just before the battle. Ive had a couple of togh ones where ive mis equipped materia and stuffed myself up.
I recently replayed TLOU and am now going for the platinum.
It took me increasing the difficulty to the highest levels to truly appreciate it. Im hooked!
It's trully a masterpiece in gaming,
This remaster would be great with another remaster version. It's trully got plenty re playability to it. Bring on tlou2.
Well I expected GTA 5 coming with a PS5 version,! With new features so they can keep selling on the UK PS5 Sale week. Heard it her first 😂
Returning to top 10 not only years down the road but mere months after being an IGC offer... remarkable indeed.
@JoeBlogs
Probably since about 1983 or so on Atari.
I may well have played games on my C64 more back then, and certainly I gave the likes of Mario and Zelda a good hiding on NES. But as a teen I played exclusively on my Amiga so it was thousands of hours of Sensible Soccer, Elite and Premiership Manager 😁
Dont get me wrong, there are stack of games I played more, but story driven games played to completion, that isn't something I do very often.
Grand Theft Auto V is still hanging in there, LOL!
At £12 TLOU is a giveaway. It's the cheapest game and the best game in the Top10.
