Last week saw the arrival of Resident Evil 3, and it seems the UK managed to grab its fair share of physical copies despite the coronavirus lockdown. Capcom's latest remake secures a second place debut, not quite toppling the almighty Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. However, it did knock FIFA 20 down a peg.
It's not the only new release in the top 10. Persona 5 Royal steals fifth place, aptly enough, while DOOM Eternal falls from fourth all the way to 15th. Elsewhere, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sees a surge in popularity, bringing it back up to ninth place.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 5th April 2020
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Resident Evil 3
- FIFA 20
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Persona 5 Royal
- Forza Horizon 4
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
- Minecraft

I know coronavirus makes this almost impossible to glean anything of meaning from, but isn't that a bit disappointing for RE3?
@get2sammyb I'd say so, maybe its because we already had the Resi 2 remake last year? I know I'm personally waiting until this is on sale as I much preferred 2 back on the PS1 and I've played a lot of that remake over the last year
@get2sammyb we can only say so when we get the digital numbers.
I do wonder how FF7 Will score though Since many people already have the hard copy.
Although RE3 can be beaten in just over an hour, I've clocked a total of 32 hours on it. It's not as good as RE2 but it's an enjoyable ride and I've well gotten my £40's worth. Also, Miss Valentine is fantastic in this.
@get2sammyb id put it down to the crowded time of release. I mean it was between P5R and FF7 and Doom Eternal and Animal crossing only released weeks prior. Simple not enough money to go round especially with the way the world is atm. We wanted Resi 3 to be remade but people have been waiting for FF7 for years. Tho COD will probably top that as seems to be the norm.
Also GTAV in the top ten again.... How?
Would have easily taken #1 spot if there was more content, like remaking and adding both RE Outbreak games to RE3 remake and making the Outbreak games both single and multiplayer rather than that crappy REsistance mode.
Seriously RE Outbreak remake would have actually made a much better option, especially since the hospital is already in the game, all the devs would have had to do was make a few more areas, playable characters, and enemy types, like the zoo and zombie elephant, and this would have been perfect.
Capcom instead opted for that boring crap just so they can peddle lootboxes and mtx instead.
I love Resident Evil, but between Animal Crossing and FF7 I can’t justify £60 for a 3-4 hour 7/10 game. Absolutely getting it in the next few months though.
Its actually impressive physical sold this well in this time some doesn't even sell Re3 i think it's because of the virus. God saves us all.
@ApostateMage 30 hours here too! Getting my platinum then trying the online game.
@usaislie I've been tearing my hair out trying to beat Nemesis at the end on inferno difficulty. It just seems so unfair. The difficulty spike is immense.
@ApostateMage lol feels like souls game with his stun lock 1 shot crazy. Saw many streamers got stuck because of him. Try to mash buttons it's makes jill wakes up faster, get the defense coins and Chris book helps alot. Stack alot of healing and use the G18 burst it's good against him.
Still waiting for my copy the UK is so slow with shipping to the Netherlands.. 😔
Im enjoying resi3 a whole lot more than i thought. I dont do scary games what so ever and this is good for me. Sure its made me jump once or twice but it doesnt have that sense of dread that RE2 had(i sold it after being hounded by MRX a couple of times) only put in a couple of hours so far but im enjoying it.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Glad you're enjoying it mate.
