It still feels surreal to say that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be releasing on PlayStation 4 in just a weeks time. Announced all the way back at E3 2015, one of the most memorable moments of the generation, Square Enix will finally deliver the first part in its gigantic project to revitalize the 1997 JRPG masterpiece. The finish line is clearly in sight, so the Japanese publisher has decided to release one final trailer before it launches, which you can check out above.
Spoilers are ahead, however. The footage details some late-game cutscenes that you might want to experience for yourself. What we've got here is a huge focus on characterization alongside snippets of that excellent combat system. Don't forget to return to Push Square next week for the Final Fantasy VII Remake PS4 review.

Not watching it, can't wait to play it digitally at launch
My copy arrived yesterday. Its everything i dreamed of and more. Can't believe i actually have it in my hands
Nah not watching this!
@Rob_230 Glad to hear it’s good, I am really looking forward to getting it now.
Seeing that Hell House filled my heart with joy.
Also received this, surely there'll be a day one patch though? Holding off playing for now!
Why start with that scene?! Come on, the feels can't handle it! The music really drove it home.
The only thing making me cringe is that Cloud's sword is clearly clipping through the playhouse thing - wasn't it some kind of a elaborate slide in the original game?
It's been a long time since I visited Midgar.
Only a few more days. I can’t wait for this game.
@LN78 from what ive played, ive not noticed anything. I am about 2 hours in. Generally the game is quite fast paced, so any texture pop in isnt noticable and ive not had any issues with draw distance.
Only issue ive had is that trophies ive unlocked are not syncing to servers yet - and the trophy list isnt visible. Trophies
are popping though, so assume they wil sync over when Sony add the list to public servers. So nothing impacting the game in the slightest 🙂
@kyleforrester87 you are in for a treat 😃
@LN78 To be honest, rough texture pop in doesn't really bother me. Poor frame rates don't really either, anymore.
The Switch (Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in particular) has really taught me to stop caring about awful technical issues :')
@Rob_230 I had the same issue with the trophies not syncing too, glad to know it's not just me!
And yeah, this really is incredible (based on the 5 hours I've played so far) they really went all out on this one😃
so for the people who have it already,is the scope of the game truly like a fullsized FF game?
(not doubting myself but coments from players might clear up the internet confusion that somehow is still around about this game)
I received my Special Edition copy on Wednesday..still not started it yet as I'm determined to finish TOCS 2 first.
Really excited to get started on it though after that amazing demo!So no,won't be watching the trailer.
What with Final Fantasy VII Remake,Persona 5 Royal and TOCS 3 my isolation is gonna be much more bearable.
@Rob_230 Yeah same here. I couldn't believe it. Though it's taking AGES to install - and this is just the first disc. Did you get the Chocobo Chick code? I only got the Cactuar one. Though oddly I got a bonus patch with the GAME deluxe edition (there's only meant to be 2 but as you can see, there's 3).
I want to avert my eyes away from the trailer for spoiler reasons, but the way you guys are describing it in the article, it sounds like a good one.
@Matroska ahh love that set. I was tempted but couldn't afford to go for the deluxe. How many tracks are on the cd. Its always the cd's i want in these things.
Yeah i got the chocobo chick dlc. Ive not troed to redeem the code yet, but im assuming that the code wont work until maybe the day before launch. I usually find that's the case when i get things early.
That installation disc feels like it takes even longer too due to the anticipation 😃
My copy just arrived and oh my god I can't even get past the title screen it's too beautiful 😂
@Rob_230 the code works man!
@Ichiban Phew! Glad its not just me! I'm sure we will see them shortly. Im so excited to see the direction they've taken it
@DonJorginho hero, thanks! I'll redeem mine later in that case 😃
@Rob_230 all good man. My code arrived yesterday and it works so I thought I'd spread the word.
My copy arrived and I feel like a kid again, have not felt this excitement in gaming in so so long.
@Rob_230 Here's the track listing
So was the Chocobo code emailed to you? The Cactuar one was in the box but I know sometimes some of the codes are distributed by the retailer.
@DonJorginho Yeah, same here. It's actually hard to start playing, I've got that feeling when your right at the top of the start of a rollercoaster.
The gameplay looks so good. I love japanese games but boy are they masters at making cringy dialog LOL
@Matroska haha well now im jealous . These soundtrack samplers from Square are often only 5 -6 tracks. Enjoy it!!
I ordered from shopto.net. On my account there is a section for digital codes. I just need to go in there and activate the code, and then i can pop it onto PSN. Annoyingly they never email you about it, which has meant i have forgotten to download preorder dlc until after ive completed a game in the past. God of War being one example.
@AFCC Blame the Americans that translate it, usually. They're very liberal with the translations, to put it politely. Then they get their voice actors to deliver it in the cheesiest way possible, like they're in a WWE match.
@DonJorginho Snap. Its rare that i feel so excited about a game. I think Persona 5 and Ghost of Tsushima are the only two that have come close this generation.
But Final Fantasy 7 is special. It is the game that shaped many aspects of my life, even outside of gaming - particularly my love of Japan. So its so great to play it again. If only they would give final fantasy 9 the same treatment!
I watched maybe half of it then stopped. Im waiting for the Preload to begin. Wish they would release the Digital version early.
Looks so good.
While I'm tickled pink to see so many familiar scenes rendered in beautiful AAA visuals, I'm also looking forward to seeing how the story gets changed up this go around. I'm already hearing about fan controversy regarding some change made to the story in this.
Time to go on a partial social media blackout until I finally get to play this.
@Matroska that's also true but also there's 2 things japanese do in anime and games:
1-Dramatic scenes require someone to yell and do dramatic hand gestures that no one does in real life.
2-They need to say 'HUH?' and look very surprised and ask the same thing over and over ahah
Yakuza 6 has so much yelling.
Got my copy 3hours ago. Have to say I'm mighty impressed so far!
Mine should be here soon just got persona 5 Royal aswell damn now to seperate my days equally for both these giants
Most random and incoherent trailer I’ve ever seen. lol. Looking forward to the game, though.
Quite an interesting and exciting trailer. Don't remember that happening to Barret, but I guess my memory is cloudy. Definitely looks like they have captured the feel of FF7 pretty well, some areas it was like I was looking at the original with a pixel count x a thousand.
