The annual SXSW 2020 show has been cancelled this year by the City of Austin due to coronavirus concerns. It means that SEGA’s anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog panel – which has been a fixture at the festival for a few years now – will adopt a “new format” when it airs at some point in April. Our bet is on some kind of Nintendo Direct-esque showcase, but we suspect all will be revealed later in the month.
A spokesperson for the show said: “We understand the gravity of the situation for all the creatives who utilize SXSW to accelerate their careers; for the global businesses; and for Austin and the hundreds of small businesses – venues, theatres, vendors, production companies, service industry staff, and other partners that rely so heavily on the increased business that SXSW attracts.”

at least they are still showing off what they was going to show at the event so we get to find out what they are going to be releasing
Great. All I want is a Sonic adventure remake with the current voice cast since team sonic racing.
@FullbringIchigo Whether or not that's a good thing remains to be seen 🤣 fingers crossed though!
Remember, as part of Sonic's 30th anniversary, we've been promised something new from the franchise every month for the next year. There'd be a lot of careful (and likely expensive) corporate planning that'd go to waste if we heard nothing.
Thankfully, we live in a digital age, so this'll be an easy transition for the panel. Nothing is more important than public safety.
@RogerRoger apart from toilet paper apparently
@FullbringIchigo Your shops too, eh? Unfortunately it's moments like these that we see the worst of humanity, right alongside the best.
@RogerRoger i'm lucky, i work in retail so i actually save some from the deliveries when they come in
is it a bit underhanded, yeah but i'm not going to pay because idiots think it's the end of the bloody world
@FullbringIchigo No, I don't blame you. When the majority are being so selfish, the hands of good people are forced.
@FullbringIchigo I understand buying some supplies as prep just in case, unlikely as it is that something bad happens (the same way you'll have first aid stuff and medicine boxes that you rarely use), but the panic people are having is a bit much. Just get some extra things with each weekly shop or something. Hysteria shouldn't override preparedness.
@Orpheus79V it does though sadly, the mass media doesn't help either because they always blow it up
still what i don't get is why toilet paper, last time i checked the virus doesn't give you the squits
