After a successful Kickstarter campaign brought The Wonderful 101 Remastered to PlayStation 4, the game's release date has now been confirmed. It'll launch in the US on 19th May, Europe will receive it on 22nd May, and Japan is made to wait until 11th June.
Available both digitally and physically, The Wonderful 101 Remastered will be priced at £39.99/$39.99. Nighthawk Interactive will distribute the physical version, stating that it is extremely excited about the partnership. "We’ve long been fans of their games and we couldn’t be prouder to stand alongside them as their retail distributor to bring this amazing one-of-a-kind experience to their loyal fans and a whole new audience."

The title will support English and Japanese audio, while French, Italian, German, and Spanish subtitles will be included. Director Hideki Kamiya also claims that the remaster will feature finetuned controls as well as the typical graphical and framerate enhancements. He refers to it as the "definitive edition" of the game. Do you plan on picking up a physical version of The Wonderful 101 Remastered, or will you stick with a digital copy? love the game on the Wii U so yeah i'll pick it up
For anybody wondering - yes the game did make use of the Wii U I Gamepad, some of the most annoying parts - trying to find a portal to get outside a building and opening a combination lock - were only on that screen, and I think you had to touch it for rarely used items, but all the formations I made easily w/ the right thumbstick, so porting over that main part of the game should be relatively easy.
So the Kickstarter money really was so they could publish it cos even for a port that's a quick turnaround.
@AdamNovice Yep, feel like their KS was more about recouping their costs getting the IP/license back from Ninty even though I'm guessing switch is their lead platform on the conversions!
I'm just relieved a promising looking indie kickstarter BattleAxe didn't have its campaign derailed by a AAA dev & got fully funded...& they're releasing on all platforms on a humbler budget too!
@Robocod Just had a look at Battle Axe, very nice pixel art, seems like it could be quite fun. My only concern is the amount of ports they've pledged to do. I've seen small studios in the past that have struggled to handle that amount of work.
@AdamNovice Quite true sadly with some small teams/first projects...eg: Euro & physical release of Battle Princess Madelyn! (Though not helped by the EU PSN's lack of IARC Classification yet). Main designer does have experience with involvement of several recent indies & previous older gens so fingers crossed.
That they've lined up an copublisher for a physical release already is hopefully a positive step. Guess time will tell if they need to stagger the console versions.
@Robocod I wish them the best, more good games and all that.
I'm definitely hyped, hopefully can beat the game with a more familiar controller layout.
