Thanks to early access, Dreams is already full to bursting with amazing community creations, and that's largely the point of Media Molecule's ambitious project. However, it would be nice to see what the developer itself has come up with, right? Fortunately, the final version of the game will pack in a short story mode named Art's Dream. IGN has just posted a preview of this portion of the title, and it's well worth watching.
Art's Dream follows a singular story about the titular character, but jumps between three very distinct experiences. Sometimes, you'll be in a point and click noir adventure, sometimes you'll be hopping about in a fantasy platformer, and sometimes you'll be solving sci-fi puzzles as a little robot. The entire thing will apparently amount to no more than a few hours, which lines up with what Media Molecule has said in the past.
The point of Art's Dream, as IGN highlights, is not to be some huge, intimidating adventure, but a jumping off point for the community. It's meant to inspire and show what Dreams is capable of. Having said that, we really like the look of what Media Molecule has cooked up here, and we're very curious to play it for ourselves.
Do you like the look of Art's Dream in, er, Dreams? Give the video a watch and tell us what you think in the comments below.

That sounds amazing. I can't wait for it. My Valentine.
Wow, 2-3 hours seems kind of short for a game that's been in development for about 7 years or so.
I mean sure, the game is all about being a game engine, not a game, but with all the time they've had to mess around with the engine you'd think they'd be able to give us a longer story.
I wasn't expecting a 100 hour JRPG but I thought each of the 3 parts would be 2-3 hours, so 6-9 total, which would put it in line w/ a lot of indie games. 2-3 hours is more like a demo, not a game.
Oh well, if they completely make-over the user interface so it's easy to jump in and play the levels other people have created, PLAY not WATCH, I'll just do that, but it's too confusing as is.
And that ugly gray barren starting moon area has to go as well. Give me something akin to Nintendo Land, maybe let other users in it as well, talk to them to see what they've created. OK that sounds more confusing as it is now, but it could be an option like it was in NL.
1 more week, then we'll see I guess.
This looks absolutely incredible. Can't wait.
@get2sammyb Us early access folks only have to wait 1 more week. Worthy of an article?

I actually forgot Dreams was going to have a story mode.
@rjejr Stephen's writing it now, but thanks for the heads up!
@Mince PS+ seems like a given. I figure once they've made their money back. Maybe not until PS5. And this sentence form the IGN article gives me hope: "A new UI update will also make it easier to browse and search for other players' created content."
Media Molecule are the opposite of greedy evil developers like EA, Activision, and Bethesda. For that reason alone they deserve $40 for this masterpiece of creativity. It's like buying youtube for $40. Unlimited content for $40 vs. single player games with zero replay value. I come back every week and new content is there from the nicest least toxic community of gamers ever.
@rjejr I love dreams however the amount of effort required to learn stuff is obscene.
Hopefully way more short cuts are added and the amazing deep logic will have additional gambits to help. If it ships in the early access form 90% of people will bounce right off it. With a few tweaks (making 2d games, easy camera options, less restrictive thermo) then it would help.
What is massively telling, we won't be able to remix the game from MM. That goes against the spirit of Dreams in my opinion. There's loads of great stuff in dreams and I have no idea how it has been done.
@themcnoisy "we won't be able to remix the game from MM"
The IGN article - well worth a read even though PS has since written once - says we'll be able to use the art form story mode, and another art pack, so maybe that's enough for now?
"Budding designers will also get access to Art's Dream creator kits, which include sets of noir, sci-fi and fantasy creations made by Media Molecule, all of which can be used in your own projects. The update will also add two other creator kits: Welcome Home (based on the game's Homespace) and Ancient Temple."
I've played a few levels and watched a few things but I haven't even bothered w/ the tutorials b/c I KNOW I'll never even attempt to make anything. I've played all 3 LBP games w/o any creation either, though I always played the tutorials b/c they were funny.
I did however decorate my home w/ stickers, that I could do.
I just wanna play.
MM always said it was going to be a 3 hour story, so I don't see the issue especially as the campaign isn't the most important part.
This is a certainty for plus, and when it happens I'll complain about what a crappy month it is 😖
Already have dreams from early access but I wish the story is longer, the reason I bought LBP and tearaway (psvita & ps4) is because it has good single player games.
@rjejr I never thought I would on LBP, but then, my friend and I spent about 2 hours, making a dick shaped racing car with testicles for wheels, that you had to squeeze to accelerate while navigating a treacherous track, avoiding screaming eggs with eyes that would jump at you.
Possibly the best/most confusing 2 hours of my gaming life...
Yeah I will pass. I am not into Minecraft like games. I just want to play a good story mode.
@rjejr Yup. This whole project just seems like a waste of time and money. MM really has not delivered for or Sony since LBP1.
@GodGamer LBP3 w/o mM suffered, that's for sure. I'm still holding out hope for this one. If it ever actually does get PSVR support I bet some people manage to make some crazy stuff to play. I'm guessing a lot of "birth canal" nonsense as well. 😂
@J2theEzzo GOTY!!!!!
