It shouldn’t come as much of a shock, but German developer Daedalic Entertainment’s upcoming The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a PlayStation 5 game. The title was quietly announced last year, with a 2021 release date attached. At the time, the organisation said that it would deploy on “all relevant console platforms”. Now, a new EDGE feature confirms that it’s a “stunning next-gen adventure”.
The ambitious effort is being created in collaboration with Middle-earth Enterprises, and promises a “narrative-driven experience”. “We tell Gollum's story from a perspective never seen before, in any storytelling medium, all the while staying true to the legendary books of J.R.R. Tolkien,” Daedalic CEO Carsten Fichtelmann explained last year. Hopefully more details are forthcoming.

Clever publisher to plan so far!
😉
I'm very curious about this game. I'd love to see a Middle-earth game in the style of God of War or an open world game where you can create your own character so will be interesting to see where this one ends up.
I wonder if the in-game graphics (not the cut scenes) will be on par or better than the early 2000's LOTR movie visuals. I think Gollum is still to this day one of the best looking full CGI characters around.
It’s an interesting premise so I hope they get Andy Serkis on board, it just wouldn’t be the same without him. If they full ping-pong ball suit it then the animations could be really impressive.
The Ole Gunnar Solskjær game.
