As previously teased, there’s a new Outlast title in development – and this one will feature co-op. While not a direct sequel, developer Red Barrels promises that this instalment is set in the same “thrilling universe”. The press release explains: “The Outlast Trials will allow players to face the horrors of the trials by themselves or cooperate with up to three other test subjects. After all, it’s always better to sh*t your pants with some friends.”
The title takes place during the Cold War, and has just entered full production. “Our team is hard at work creating a new experience that will bring fear and anxiety to millions of players, whether they go through the experiments alone or with friends,” said studio co-founder David Chateauneuf.
More information will purportedly be shared soon – presumably at The Game Awards later in the month. In the meantime, you can check out the key art from the title embedded above.

I’m not a fan of this news.
Oh good another single player horror game that's going coop and taking any of the scares out of the game. Horror isn't scary with two people and the single player will suffer because of the new focus. Why must we repeat this mistake
@Danloaded beat me to it.
Horror just doesn't work in co op.
Yeah, this isn't what I wanted at all.....
Outlast works because of the isolation. A lot of the tension gets thrown out the window when you have friends running around with you.
If it adds cool lore and has a good gameplay hook, I'm about it. Otherwise, I was really let down by Outlast 2, so I am tentative on this
Umm..... Are those... VR helmets theyre wearing!!!
@Gmork___ with that image I'm surprised this isn't a VR title. The franchise is perfect for VR.
@OmegaStriver aww you be ok
@Danloaded sweetheart shhh
@Undeadlogan With that quality of reply I’d imagine you frequent Gamefaqs.
