The next Sword Art Online game, awkwardly titled Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, has been given release dates both in Japan and here in the West. Fortunately, overseas fans will only have to wait an extra day to get their hands on the action role-playing adventure, with the game launching on the 21st May 2020 in Japan, and the 22nd May 2020 in the West.

Based on what we've seen of it so far, Alicization Lycoris looks quite promising. It follows the story of the recent anime series up to a point, before it splits off into its own original tale. And much like Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, it does feel like this next instalment has been blessed with a bigger Bandai Namco budget. Hopefully it fulfils expectations when it hits PlayStation 4 next year.
