Final Fantasy Vii

This is a bit weird. We're here to tell you about a PlayStation 4 patch for Final Fantasy VII, but it's not for the version still a couple of months away from launch. Yes, that's right, the PS4 port of the original Final Fantasy VII which Square Enix trolled the world over with four years ago just received what is probably its most important patch yet.

Nearly half a decade in the making, the Japanese publisher has finally fixed the music loop glitch and "various minor bugs" with patch 1.02. It's available to download right now if you've still got the game installed on your PS4. Reported by Update Crazy, the full patch notes are as follows:

  • Addressed crashing issues.
  • Fixed stuttering and lag issues.
  • Added stability improvements.
  • Added other minor fixes.
  • Various UI fixes and changes.

This update should bring the version in line with other console ports, but why on earth did it take Square Enix so long? Nevertheless, we're happy it's finally here. Is this patch enough to make you replay the game before the remake? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
