This is a bit weird. We're here to tell you about a PlayStation 4 patch for Final Fantasy VII, but it's not for the version still a couple of months away from launch. Yes, that's right, the PS4 port of the original Final Fantasy VII which Square Enix trolled the world over with four years ago just received what is probably its most important patch yet.
Nearly half a decade in the making, the Japanese publisher has finally fixed the music loop glitch and "various minor bugs" with patch 1.02. It's available to download right now if you've still got the game installed on your PS4. Reported by Update Crazy, the full patch notes are as follows:
- Addressed crashing issues.
- Fixed stuttering and lag issues.
- Added stability improvements.
- Added other minor fixes.
- Various UI fixes and changes.
This update should bring the version in line with other console ports, but why on earth did it take Square Enix so long? Nevertheless, we're happy it's finally here. Is this patch enough to make you replay the game before the remake? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

1 thing you can say bout the original FF7 is replayability factor.
I haven't finished this on PS4 but saw the update pop up this morning. I'll get this on rotation over the next few months 😁
This is really pathetic in all honesty. I don’t understand why people give this studio so much leeway.
Better late than never, I suppose.
Square must know im about to replay it and get the Barrett Date trophy so i can finally get that Platinum
@SuperSilverback still never worked out how to get a date with him!
Guess the Switch/Xbone timed exclusive on patch/updates must've finally expired!
I think they forgot about it and just remembered to patch it today lol
@Robocod
LOOOOOL xD
@BamBamBaklava89 Because over the course of PlayStation’s history Square have published more games that are worth playing than anyone else, including Sony’s first party. A few bugs don’t stop the games from being worth playing.
@SnowTiesAreCool pretty much be a d*ck to Tifa and Aerith when it lets you choose replies/take Barretts side for most stuff etc. Think there is a FAQ with exact points, i might need it haha
Lol they were too busy working on the remake
Have to get back to it soon.
I platted it a year ago but I never came across any issues with bugs in the game I had 2 hard crashes that's it. I wonder if it fixes the bug where you can cheat for Barret's hidden like meter bar to get him to be the one for the ride in Golden Saucer???
@SnowTiesAreCool buying the flower at the start and giving it to Marlene is a good way to start other things and keeping him in your party (also NOT using Tifa and Aerith once you don't have to) BUT if you want a full idea of what to do
01) In the train whilst talking to Jessie choose "Looking forward to it"
02) Buy a flower from Aerith and give it to Marlene
03) Don't talk to Tifa before riding the pinball machine
04) When Tifa remarks that Cloud is abandoning his childhood friend, select "...Sorry"
05) When Tifa asks how Cloud slept, select "Barret's snoring kept me up..."
06) Make it past the security ID check on the trains
07) After defeating Air Buster select "(Be strong)"
08) Tell Aerith to run, then she fights. Push the incorrect barrel 3 times
09) Tell Aerith that Tifa is your girlfriend
10) Whilst chatting in the playground choose "See her home"
11) Make sure Cloud gets chosen by Don Corneo, then select "Yeah his name is Barret..." when talking to Don
12) After landing in the sewers talk to Tifa first
13) When Marlene remarks that Aerith likes Cloud, choose "Let's hope so"
14) After meeting Red XII send Barret off to look after Aerith
15) After defeating Sample:H0512 make a team of Barret & Red XIII
16) Talk to Tifa in the cells and choose "Kinda hard"
17) Think of Barret first in the cells
18) Think of Red XIII second
19) After escaping the Shinra HQ, make a team of Red XIII and Barret
20) After the flashback in Kalm, choose "Wait a sec" and then "beautiful, just beautiful" when talking to Barret
21) Form a party of Red XIII and Barret, then tell the woman in Kalm who asks about Mako that she's full of it
22) Then talk to the person upstairs and select "Yeah, maybe"
23) Make a party of Barret and Red XIII then enter Fort Condor. When talking to the old guy select "I guess so"
24) Select "All right" as your second choice at Fort Condor
25) Don't recruit Yuffie.
26) If you did recruit Yuffie don't give her any Tranquilizers on the Ship
27) Tell Aerith that you don't know if you'll take her on the Highwind
28) When Tifa tells you how much she hates war, choose "I don't know"
29) Choose Red XIII to accompany you at the Gold Saucer
30) Choose Red XIII or Cait Sith to accompany you in Corel Prison
31) Enter Gongaga with Aerith and Tifa. Completely ignore both of them
32) Bring Barret with you to Cosmo Canyon. Talk to him in the back of Tiger Lily's and select "Go on", then "And then"
33) Don't complete Yuffie's sidequest until after the date
No, I will ignored it and focus on remake. They are just dirty wanting our money. That's why.
